Vote on the Motion: Ayes 5, Nay 0 – Motion Carried Review/Possible Action on Request from Gene Kobussen for Installation of a New Sign on the North Side of the Building at 532 Grand Avenue (The Flying Dutchman) Gene Kobussen stated that the new sign will be 4′ by 12′ and made from corrugated plastic with a wood frame that will be painted Victory Blue and it will have vinyl letters and the sign will have a burnished edge around the outside. Gene Kobussen provided a paint chip of the blue color. Steve Reynebeau stated he liked all aspects of the sign and the only drawback he sees is the rectangular shape and he suggested rounding off the corners. Board members suggested adding a scroll design to the sign that was possibly made out of wood. G. Kobussen stated that he is building the wood frame and he may be able to add a decorative element if he can find the right type of wood. C. Kell suggested that Mr. Kobussen contact Elipticon as they may have the type of wood needed for creating a decorative scroll design. Moved by John Elrick, seconded by Rob Peterson to approve the sign request from Gene Kobussen for the Flying Dutchman with the sign to have the burnished edging and a decorative scroll to be added to the top or top and bottom of the sign. Further Discussion: C. Kell stated that John Wiley may also be able to make decorative corners for the sign. Trustee Elrick suggested extending the burnishing inward a little more to round off the corners. C. Kell stated that he can contact John Wiley the owner of Elipticon to let him know that Mr. Kobussen will be contacting him about the sign. Board members agreed that they didn’t need to meet again to give approval for the final design but Mr. Kobussen should bring the revised design to C. Kell and he will email a copy of the revised design to the Design Review Board members for their review before the sign permit is issued. Vote on the Motion: Ayes 5, Nay 0 – Motion Carried Unfinished Business Rob Peterson asked when the sign that was denied for M & M Bar was going to be taken down. C. Kell stated that he understands that Jim Moes sent the owner a letter informing him that the sign request was denied and the sign will have to be removed. C. Kell further stated that he will follow-up with Jim Moes on this issue. Items for Future Agenda C. Kell stated that it is likely another design review request will be coming in very soon from Baker’s Outlet.
