MINUTES OF THE DESIGN REVIEW BOARD MEETING OF APRIL 27, 2011 Call to Order: Charles Kell, Village Administrator called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Roll Call: Present: Administrator Charles Kell-Chairperson, Hollie Hammen, Steve Mofle, Robert Peterson, Diane De Bruin Excused: Steve Reynebeau Also Present: Community Development Director Jim Moes, Village Clerk Vicki Schneider, John Elrick, BACE, Inc. Public Appearances for Items Not on the Agenda None Approval of Minutes of March 21, 2011 Moved by Rob Peterson, seconded by Hollie Hammen to approve the minutes of March 21, 2011 as presented. Ayes 5, Nays 0 – Motion Carried Review/Possible Action on Revisions to Façade Improvements to Building at 505 Grand Avenue – Four D Investments, LLC – Baker’s Outlet John Elrick explained that the south side of the building is an old stone foundation and the concern is that the wall will not support masonry all the way up so he is proposing the installation of a freestyle EIFS finish on the upper portion of the wall and the color will be matched as close as possible to the original proposal. Board members suggested adding architecture to the windows that would make them look more old word European. John Elrick stated that he would not be opposed to adding a pitch to the windows on the south side. Moved by Rob Peterson, seconded by Steve Mofle to approve the design changes to the Façade Improvement Plan for 505 Grand Avenue including the Board’s request to add old world style window treatments to the three large windows on the south side of the building. Ayes 5, Nays 0 – Motion Carried Unfinished Business None Items for Future Agenda C. Kell mentioned that the new owners of the Carpenter are considering changing the face of their sign but they want to keep their Christian logo and he provided them with a copy of the Design Manual. This request may be coming to the Design Review Board in the future.
