Minutes of Fire Commission Meeting May 9, 2011 Present: Carl Peeters, Dick Schevers, Bill Verhagen, Scott Schommer, Pat Nikolay, and Fire Chief Bob VandenHeuvel The meeting was called to order at 5:44 pm. The minutes from the February 7, 2011 meeting were reviewed and approved (Bill so moved, Dick seconded, all ayes). Old Business Bob VandenHeuvel reported that the new hires that were approved conditionally at the May 10, 2010 meeting are ready to test out. The Commission will make final non-conditional approval at the September meeting. New Business Two new people were recently hired pending the Commission’s approval: Jacob Meyers, who is already trained but needs to get his paperwork to Bob, and Derek VanDuerzen. Both hires were conditionally approved pending their proof of certification. (Scott so moved, Dick seconded, all ayes). Election of officers: Dick moved that the present officers (Carl Peeters, President; Scott Schommer, Vice President; Pat Nikolay, Secretary) be elected for another year. Bill seconded, all ayes. The meeting was adjourned at 6:00, upon which time the members of the Commission were given a tour of the Fire Department. Next meeting: September 12, 2011
