MINUTES OF THE LITTLE CHUTE PARK PLANNING COMMITTEE OF
JANUARY 4, 2022
Call to Order
Meeting was called to order by Bill Peerenboom at 6:00 p.m.
Member Roll Call
PRESENT: Ruben Wittman, Cary Luitjens, Jodie Rietveld, Tammy Plate, Bill Van Berkel
ABSENT: Jerry Schumacher,
ALSO PRESENT: John McDonald, Parks, Recreation & Forestry Director
ITEMS NOT ON AGENDA: None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from Nov 2 were approved through a Consent Agenda with a motion by T Plate and a second by C Luitjens
to approve. Approved unanimously.
TERRACE TREE PROGRAM (DISCUSSION/ACTION):
Fall planting of terrace trees was approved by the village board. The cost of trees will increase from $60 to $80. The
trees were chosen and berry trees will no longer be offered due to the mess the berries create. There will be a choice of
larger trees for wider terraces and those that are shorter for under power lines.
J Rietveld motioned with recommendation to move forward with tree planting with the cost and tree choice as
discussed. B Peerenboom 2nd and approved unanimously.
PLAYGROUND CLIMB-AROUND:
The older climbing structure at Doyle Park has surpassed its lifespan and is now missing 2 posts making it dangerous to
use. These posts are no longer manufactured so would like to remove this equipment. B VanBerkel made a motion to
have this piece of equipment removed, J Rietveld 2nd. Approved unanimously.
COMPREHENSIVE OUTDOOR RECREATION PLAN (CORP) (DISCUSSION/ACTION):
The updated plan was presented. All changes that were discussed at November meeting have been made. R Wittman
motioned to approve the CORP as presented, J Rietveld 2nd, approved unanimously.
KAYAK LAUNCH/STORAGE RACK/RENTAL PROGRAM (DISCUSSION/ACTION):
An anonymous donor has offered to cover the cost of a storage rack next to the Kayak Launch to hold kayaks that can be
rented. Kayak Wisconsin will supply 4 kayaks and run the rental program which can be accessed through a phone with
Blue Tooth. Blue Tooth will be used to unlock the locks that hold the Kayak, paddles, and life jackets. 20% of the revenue
will be returned to the village for maintenance of the launch area. B VanBerkel made motion to approve the program as
discussed, C Luitjens 2nd, approved unanimously.
DIRECTORS REPORT:
• Zone E for tree pruning is in progress. Ash tree removal for Zone A is planned for 2022.
• $649 was spent for repair of leak in Surge Tank at the pool.
• Winter break staff are working on refurbishing picnic tables and pool training booklets.
