BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
April is National Poetry Month. In collaboration with the Library’s Teen Advisory Board, we are hosting a “Teen
Poetry Slam” on April 21, 2023, at Hutchins Street Square This poetry event will be from 6 pm to 9 pm, in the
Thomas Theater. The Poetry Slam calls all aspiring teen writers, creative artists, speakers, rappers and poets
to reveal their inner voices. The Poetry Slam is meant to celebrate teens, literacy, and poetry appreciation.
There will be prizes give out to the best poet.
Discussion Items:
• The Poetry Slam subcommittee shall share details of their Zoom meeting
• Marketing efforts: flyers, social media, website, emails, posters/flyers
• Assignments and numbers of volunteers from LYC and from Teen Advisory Board
• Donations for prizes
• Snack purchases
• Coffee equipment Rental
• Door head counter / limited seating to 60

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission has chosen to participate in the Love Lodi Annual Event for their
service project on April 29, 2023. The Love Lodi event will promote community service, raise awareness
through their participation with hands on work experiences. The Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission will
learn responsibility through assigned and designated tasks. This will encourage positive growth and personal
development through their Love Lodi service project.
The Commission shall discuss their thoughts on the following items;
• Ideas for areas of interest for tasks, work duties, and job assignments for Love Lodi Event
• Work as the LYC Group
• Hours of mandatory attendance must be from 9 am to 3 pm, or until their task are finished
• Advisors must attend event to oversee Commissioners for safety and assistance
• For safety issues working in pairs
• What work equipment will we need, gloves, ball caps, and water
