Skip Baliles and Linda Dodd were all present.
Chairman Danny Ford called the meeting to order at 1:33pm.
Chairman Danny Ford explained that Jeff Henson has request to speak to the Committee about
providing sewer services outside the City. Mr. Henson explained that he has 27 acres located on
Tig Knight Road that cannot be annexed into the City because it will create an island. He further
explained that he would like to buy water and sewer from the City. There was much discussion
regarding this matter. It was explained that this is in the Service Territory of Walton County and
not the City of Loganville. Utility Director Chris Yancey explained that the he has concerns
regarding the Tara Pump Station. He stated that the capacity is already committed in that area.
He explained that to service this development there would have to be upgrades to the system. He
stated that there have been issues with the pump as well as the force main that would need to be
upgraded to be able to service this area. Committee Member Skip Baliles stated that he did not
see the City playing ball without annexation. Mr. Henson discussed possibly annexing part of the
property leaving the front portion at the front of the subdivision in the county in order to obtain
sewer. There was discussion regarding this. Committee Member Skip Baliles stated that he
wanted to see in writing that Tara Subdivision will agree to allow access to the pump station and
from the County that they would allow the City to service this area water. Mr. Henson stated that
he only wants to worry about what it would take to build these 70 lots. He further stated he
would take on the cost to upgrade the pump station but was not willing to help with the force
main.
