MINUTES CITY OF LOGANVILLE Public Utilities Committee Meeting Thursday, May 2, 2019 1:30pm Council Chambers The City of Loganville Public Utilities Committee met on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 1:30 pm in the Council Chambers. Mayor Rey Martinez, Chairman Danny Ford and Committee Members Skip Baliles and Linda Dodd were all present. Chairman Danny Ford called the meeting to order at 1:33pm. Chairman Danny Ford explained that Jeff Henson has request to speak to the Committee about providing sewer services outside the City. Mr. Henson explained that he has 27 acres located on Tig Knight Road that cannot be annexed into the City because it will create an island. He further explained that he would like to buy water and sewer from the City. There was much discussion regarding this matter. It was explained that this is in the Service Territory of Walton County and not the City of Loganville. Utility Director Chris Yancey explained that the he has concerns regarding the Tara Pump Station. He stated that the capacity is already committed in that area. He explained that to service this development there would have to be upgrades to the system. He stated that there have been issues with the pump as well as the force main that would need to be upgraded to be able to service this area. Committee Member Skip Baliles stated that he did not see the City playing ball without annexation. Mr. Henson discussed possibly annexing part of the property leaving the front portion at the front of the subdivision in the county in order to obtain sewer. There was discussion regarding this. Committee Member Skip Baliles stated that he wanted to see in writing that Tara Subdivision will agree to allow access to the pump station and from the County that they would allow the City to service this area water. Mr. Henson stated that he only wants to worry about what it would take to build these 70 lots. He further stated he would take on the cost to upgrade the pump station but was not willing to help with the force main. Committee Member Skip Baliles made a motion to not allow sewer service outside the City. Committee Member Linda Dodd seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0. City Manager Danny Roberts gave an update on SDS Negotiations. He explained that they are looking to increase the service area for sewer along 78 for future commercial development. With no further business, Committee Member Linda Dodd made a motion to adjourn. Committee Member Skip Baliles seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0. Meeting adjourned at 2:47pm.
