Public Utilities Committee Meeting
Thursday, September 30, 2021 6:45pm
Council Chambers
The City of Loganville Public Utilities Committee met on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at
6:45pm in the Council Chambers. Chairman Bill DuVall and Committee Members Anne
Huntsinger and Lisa Newberry were presented. Mayor Rey Martinez was also present.
Chairman Bill DuVall called the meeting to order at 6:45pm.
City Manager Danny Roberts presented the ARPA Grant through the State. He explained that
there are Water & Sewer Options for this grant. He explained that this grant is a matching grant
but the match percentage is proposed by the applicant. The City has already received some
ARPA funds and the match can come from the funds already received. Proposed project for this
grant included:
• Upgrade existing floating aerators at digester #2 and digester #3
• Influent Pump #3 and electrical panel upgrade
• Chlorine Gas to bleach conversion
• Convert chlorine building to equipment rebuild shop Decommission Holly Ct. Lift
Station
• Holly Court to Huntington Ridge Lift Station Gravity Main
Re-route Huntington Ridge force main
Chairman Bill DuVall made a motion to recommend $360,000 not to exceed $360,000. Council
Member Anne Huntsinger seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0.
The Committee discussed the option of purchasing a Street Sweeper instead of renting one to
meet the requirements of the MS4 Stormwater Permit. City Manager Danny Roberts explained
that it currently costs $8,000 to rent one but $163,000 to purchase. There was discussion
regarding this and the consensus was that it was not cost effective at this time to consider
purchasing.
With no further business, Chairman Bill DuVall made a motion to adjourn. Council Member
Lisa Newberry seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0.
