OCEAN DISABILITIES MINUTES BOULEVARD, 1:00 PM David Gauthier, Chair Richard Hernandez, Member Deaka McClain, Vice Chair Chris Karadjov, Member Ciara Calsita, Member Jamone Pili, Member CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 1:00 PM. ROLL CALL Commissioners Ciara Calsita, Richard Hernandez, Jamone Pili, Deaka McClain Present: and David Gauthier Commissioners Chris Karadjov Excused: FLAG SALUTE PUBLIC PARTICIPATION APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES 18-005CA Recommendation to approve minutes from the January 11, 2018 meeting of the Citizen's Advisory Committee on Disabilities. This CA-Agenda Item was approve recommendation. OCEAN DISABILITIES MINUTES BOULEVARD, 1:00 PM STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS Youth, Employment & Programs - Commissioner Calsita reported that this committee is moving forward with disability resources guide and will present some options to the commission at a later date. Accessibilty, Transportation & Services - Commissioner McClain reported that the committee is still in the early planning stages of the accessibility townhall. AD-HOC COMMITTEE REPORTS Community Events ADA Checklist Ad-Hoc - Commissioner Calsita reported that recommendations had been sent out to the commission requesting feedback before final recommendations are submitted. These recommendations are related to seating, platforms and stages, communication, and outside events. Calendar Ad-Hoc - Commissioner McClain reported that there were no events currently on the calendar. NEW BUSINESS 18-006CA Recommendation to receive and file a program update from Aida Douglas, Regulatory Compliance and Civil Rights Officer, Long Beach Transit. A motion was made by Commissioner Calsita, seconded by Commissioner Pili, to approve recommendation. OCEAN DISABILITIES MINUTES BOULEVARD, 1:00 PM Aida Douglas, Regulatory Compliance and Civil Rights Officer, Long Beach Transit, reported that LBT has updated their decals (October 2017) reminding riders of priority seating on LBT buses for those with mobility disabilities, LBT's practice of granting reasonable modifications based on a 2014 'Notice of Proposed Rulemaking' issued by the US Department of Transportation, all ADA complaints are investigating, and that Access Services is the primary paratransit organization for LA County (LBT Dial-A-Lift is supplemental to that service). STAFF REPORT Staff liasion Heather Blackmun reported that the letter regarding the post office projects had been drafted and will be forwarded to city council once final input has been received. Ms. Blackmun also reported that two vacancies may be filled later in February. Lastly, Ms. Blackmun suggested that the commission decide when they would like to visit Stearns Park after she sends out an email with suggested days/times.
