ROLL CALL Commissioners Ciara Calsita, Richard Hernandez, Chris Karadjov, Deaka Present: McClain and David Gauthier Commissioners Jamone Pili Absent: FLAG SALUTE PUBLIC PARTICIPATION APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES 1. 18-007CA Recommendation to approve minutes from the February 8, 2018 meeting of the Citizen's Advisory Commission on Disabilities A motion was made by Commissioner Hernandez, seconded by Commissioner Calsita, to approve recommendation. Accessibilty, Transportation & Services - Commissioner McClain reported that this committee was still in discussions regarding an accessibilty townhall. AD-HOC COMMITTEE REPORTS Calendar Ad-Hoc - Comissioner McClain reported that there was nothing to report this month. NEW BUSINESS 2. 18-008CA Recommendation to approve final recommendations from the Community Events ADA Checklist Ad-hoc Committee to the City Manager. A motion was made by Commissioner Karadjov, seconded by Commissioner Calsita, to approve recommendation. OCEAN BOULEVARD, 1:00 PM DISABILITIES MINUTES Commissioner Calsita recommended that the City's ADA Checklist for Community Events include sections specific to stages & platforms, communications accessibility including microphones and accessible outside events. STAFF REPORT Heather Blackmun reported that she is working to reschedule the commission's visit to Stearns Park, two new CACoD commissioners will join the commission in April, Frances Dawson Emily Harris had dropped off some correspondence for the commissioners, an update on the self evaluation, and that she is in communication with Council District 1 regarding a presentation for the new city hall. CHAIRPERSON AND/OR VICE CHAIR CLOSING REMARKS ANNOUNCEMENTS Commissioner McClain reported that she participated in the College Internship Program's (CIP) student government event recently and shared of her experience as a commissioner for CACoD. Commissioner Hernandez announced that the Disabled Resources Center would have their annual awards dinner on June 21, 2018 and that nominations for perspective awardees were now being accepted through March 12.
