CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 1:07 PM.

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
1. 18-009CA Recommendation to approve minutes from the March 1, 2018 meeting
of the Citizen's Advisory Commission on Disabilities.
A motion was made by Vice Chair McClain, seconded by
Commissioner Hernandez, to approve recommendation. The
motion carried by the following vote:
Yes: 5 - Richard Hernandez, Chris Karadjov, Jamone Pili, Deaka
McClain and David Gauthier

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS
Youth, Employment & Programs - Chair Gauthier reported that the committee is still working
on a draft services guide specific to the disability community. The committee is also starting to
plan Mentoring Day.
Accessibilty, Transportation & Services - Vice Chair McClain reported that the committee is
still putting together logistics for an Accessibility Townhall that they can formally bring before
the whole commission.
AD-HOC COMMITTEE REPORTS
Calendar Ad-Hoc - Vice Chair McClain reminded the commission that they are participating in
Mayor Garcia's Abilities Night on Sunday, April 22.
OLD BUSINESS
2. 18-010CA Recommendation to send parks accessibility discussion to
Accessibility, Transportation and Services Standing Committee for
furthur review.
A motion was made by Commissioner Pili, seconded by Vice
Chair McClain, to approve recommendation. The motion carried
by the following vote:

NEW BUSINESS
3. 18-012CA Recommendation to receive and file information from Chair Gauthier
regarding a yearlong investigation done by National Public Radio
(NPR) on the sexual assault epidemic in the disability community
nationwide and what appropriate steps, if any, the Citizen's Advisory
Commission on Disabilities can take in advising the Mayor and City
Council.

A motion was made by Commissioner Pili, seconded by Vice
Chair McClain, to approve recommendation. The motion carried
by the following vote:

STAFF REPORT
Staff liasion Heather Blackmun welcomed Alice Bruns to CACoD as the newest
commissioner, reported that 'blue zone' recommendations made by CACoD are currently
being vetted internally, informed CACoD that RespectAbility is having their next Community of
Practice meeting on April 26, and lastly reported that the airport is processing CACoD's
request for a presentation.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Commissioner Hernandez announced that the Disabled Resources Center is having their
volunteer recognition luncheon on April 27.
Commissioner McClain reminded the commission that every 2nd Friday of the month the
Disabled Resources Center has their advisory committee meeting at 101 W Broadway.

Form ad-hocs for Disability Awareness Month events
