STAFF REPORT
Heather Blackmun reminded the commission about the ADA anniversary proclamation being
presented the following week, the grand opening of the new civic center on July 29th and the grand
opening of the new main library on September 21. Ms. Blackmun also reminded the commission
that starting in August, CACoD will start meeting in the new council chamber.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Commissioner Gutierrez spoke about her disappointment that the Disabled Resources Center only
provided ASL interpreters for two hours, and not the entire event, during their annual dinner. After
two hours, the individuals using the ASL service had to look to their family member for
interpretation. Commissioner Gutierrez reminded the commission that the City in general is better
than that, and should encourage our partners to be fully inclusive, especially if the City is going to
support their efforts.
