Communication from Cynthia Stafford, Deputy Director of Human Resources b. Staff report prepared by Shellie Goings, Personnel Analyst The Acting Secretary briefed the Commission regarding this request. Mr. Ficker and Ms. Lopez were present to answer the Commission’s questions. A motion was made by Vice President Arias, seconded by Commissioner Smith Watts, to approve recommendation. Smith Watts, Phyllis Arias and Rick McGilton-McGlamery Absent: 2 - Charles Hicks and Robin Perry 9. 17-089CS RECOMMENDATION TO EXTEND ARTICLE VIII, SECTION 115(3) OF THE CIVIL SERVICE RULES AND REGULATONS Staff report prepared by Kandice Taylor-Sherwood, Executive Director The Acting Secretary briefed the Commission regarding this request. Commissioner Arias asked if we know the City's threshold for defining "budgetary challenges." She suggested that, as the body that approves extending Article VIII, the Commission should be aware of this information. A motion was made by Commissioner Smith Watts, seconded by Vice President Arias, to approve recommendation. Commissioner Smith Watts suggested Ms. McDonald compare the survey results with other similar cities using Montage. Ms. Slaten provided the Commission updates on upcoming recruitment events and Police Recruit examination. Ms. Slaten invited the Commission to the Cambodian Festival this weekend. Ms. Slaten thanked Ms. Hamilton for proctoring examinations. UNFINISHED BUSINESS NEW BUSINESS COMMENTS FROM PUBLIC – The Civil Service Commission will hear from members of the public on matters within the Commission’s jurisdiction. Emelda Sweezer addressed the Commission regarding working out of her classification and retaliation for addressing the issue of working out of classification. Mr. Anderson suggested that the Commission recommend Ms. Sweezer file a complaint with EOCC and provided a contact person for Ms. Sweezer. Salvador Vasquez, Business Representative, IAMAW thanked Public Works for the recommendation of permanent assigning Ms. Lopez.
