ROLL CALL Also present: Linda Tatum, Planning Bureau Manager; Christopher Koontz, Advance Planning Officer; Alejandro Plascencia, Planner Commissioners Shannon Carmack, Louise Ivers, Jan Robert van Dijs, Craig Present: Smith, Karen L. MINUTES A motion was made by Commissioner van Dijs, seconded by Commissioner Smith, to approve recommendation. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION There was no public participation. SWEARING OF THE WITNESSES All witnesses were sworn in. REGULAR AGENDA (3) 1 17-018CH Recommendation to recommend that the City Council designate the following five properties as Historic Landmarks: 501 E. Broadway, 909-915 Elm Avenue, 287 Granada Avenue, 355 Junipero Avenue, and 362 Junipero Avenue. (Districts 1, 2, 3) Christopher Koontz, Advance Planning Officer, introduced Alejandro Plascencia, Planner, who gave the staff report. Chair Burks spoke. Commissioner Ivers spoke. A motion was made by Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Carmack, to approve recommendation. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 6 - Shannon Carmack, Louise Ivers, Jan Robert van Dijs, Craig Smith, Karen L. Highberger and Alan Burks Absent: 1 - Julianna Roosevelt 2 17-017CH Recommendation to approve a Certificate of Appropriateness request to modify an existing detached third dwelling unit by converting an attached one-car garage into 241 square feet of habitable living area and adding a new attached one-car garage; construction of a new detached one-car garage building; and construction of a new three-car garage located at 2805-2807-2809 East Ocean Boulevard. The building is a Contributing Structure within the Bluff Park Historic District. Highberger and Alan Burks Absent: 1 - Julianna Roosevelt 3 17-019CH Recommendation to hold a discussion and appoint a Cultural Heritage Commission representative to the Long Beach Navy Memorial Heritage Association. Highberger and Alan Burks Absent: 1 - Julianna Roosevelt COMMENTS FROM THE CULTURAL HERITAGE COMMISSION There were no comments. ADJOURNMENT Chair Burks adjourned the meeting at 6:13 PM.
