2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Recommendation to approve the minutes of the meeting on April 4, 2018.
Committee Member Wilson moved to approve the minutes as
amended, seconded by Committee Member Graeber.

3. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
Natalie Swit, community member with Temple Israel Long Beach and the National Council of
Jewish Women introduced herself and provided some commentary on the Task Force to End
Homelessness.
Shawn Mirzaie, Long Beach Area Coalition for the Homeless representative, introduced himself.
Committee Member Sngiem joins the meeting at 3:43 pm
4. OLD BUSINESS
Mayor’s Fund Update
Teresa Chandler, Human Services Bureau Manager, provided a breakdown on the current
balance for the Mayor’s Fund as follows:
· Current Balance: $156,684.87
· Donations received from 9/30/2017-4/26/2018: $27,727.20
· Current Balance does not account for Urban Community Outreach allocation for
motel vouchers and relocation assistance ($15,000)
5. NEW BUSINESS
Task Force on Homelessness, Mayor’s Office
Mark Taylor, Chief of Staff for Mayor Robert Garcia, provided an overview on the vision for the
Task Force on Homelessness. The twenty-eight (28) member task force will be chaired by
California State University Long Beach President, Jane Close Conoley. The first of four Task
Force meetings will take place the week of June 11 at California State University Long Beach;
subsequent dates are pending.
Discussion ensued among the committee members.

July 4 Meeting Recommendation to Cancel due to Holiday
Committee Member Wilson moved to cancel the July 4, 2018
meeting due to the Holiday, seconded by Committee Member
Barrow.

6. HOMELESS SERVICES OFFICER’S REPORT
Shannon Parker, Homeless Services Officer, and Elsa Ramos, Special Projects
Coordinator provided an overview on the following items:
· Paula Barrow’s last meeting
· HUD Audit April 16-18
· CoC Registration now available
· Strategic Plan-in final editing phase
· City Manager Friday Newsletter Highlight on Outreach
· Harbor PSH Move-Ins
· National Conference for Homeless Veterans May 30-June 1
· National Alliance to End Homelessness Conference July 22-25
· Monday Matters
· CVC 20th Anniversary Gala on 4/12
· Home is where the HeART is: Skid Robot Artist in partnership with Studio 111 on
4/19
· Collocation of Long Beach Rescue Mission Staff
· City Heart Food Program on Tuesdays at the Multi-Service Center
· Multi-Service Center Closure May 4-7, regular operations on Tuesday, May 8
Discussion ensued among the committee members regarding the items above.

Vice Chair Kripp retires from the meeting at 4:33 pm
