Elvira Hallinan, Manager, Marine Bureau, took roll call and confirmed a quorum. A motion was made by Commissioner Mayes, seconded by Commissioner Kuhn, to approve recommendation. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 6 - Colin Kelly, Ted Kuhn, Elizabeth Lambe, Theresa Marino, Tom Mayes and David Thornburg Absent: 2 - Camille Daniels and Mark Turpin NEW BUSINESS 2. 19-005MA Recommendation to receive and file the Colorado Lagoon Open Channel - Phase 2 oral report presented by Tidelands Capital Improvement Projects Team. Joshua Hickman, Program Manager Tidelands, presented The Colorado Lagoon Ecosystem Restoration Project. The presentation included: · The open channel and mitigation bank final pieces of the Colorado Lagoon restoration plan · Proposed Open Channel · Natural open channel with mix of tidal habitats · Mitigation Bank Habitat Areas · Project Update/ Next Steps Page 2 of 7 CITY OF LONG BEACH THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2019 MARINE ADVISORY LONG BEACH YACHT CLUB COMMISSION MINUTES 6201 APPIAN WAY, 2:30 PM Guest Dave Pirazzi, Friends of Colorado Lagoon (FOCL), spoke of CSULB involvement with the Colorado Lagoon project. Guest Melinda Cotton thanked Dave for his service. A motion was made by Commissioner Marino, seconded by Commissioner Kelly, to receive and file. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 6 - Colin Kelly, Ted Kuhn, Elizabeth Lambe, Theresa Marino, Tom Mayes and David Thornburg Absent: 2 - Camille Daniels and Mark Turpin 3. 19-007MA Recommendation to receive and file the Marina Drive Revitalization Project oral report presented by Tidelands Capital Improvement Projects Team. Joshua Hickman, Program Manager Tidelands, presented The Marina Drive Complete Streets Revitalization project. The presentation included: · Marina Drive Now and in the Future · Gathering Spaces · Bikeways, Walkways, & Vehicles · Additional Improvements 1) Pedestrian Safety Improvements 2) Storm Water Improvements · Minimize Impacts to Trees · Project Update/ Next Steps Joshua Hickman introduced Eric Widstrand, Manager, Traffic and Transportation, Public Works. LBFD- Marine Safety/Lifeguards Update Scott Dixon, Lifeguard Captain, gave the following brief update: · Swift water teams and procedures. · Review of medical calls. · Dumping of items into the bay. Elvira Hallinan introduced new employee Kristle Clark, Clerk Typist lll. Ms. Clark will work at the Shoreline Marina office. Marine Maintenance Update Eric Woodson, Superintendent, Marine Maintenance gave the following brief update: · Christmas trees have been removed for the season. · Pedestal replacements in DTM. Elvira Hallinan mentioned Mr. Woodson is dedicated to mentoring his staff. Beach Maintenance Update Cory Forrester, Superintendent, Beach Maintenance gave the following update: · Rainbow Harbor debris boom. · Pedestal replacements in DTM. · Building up the berms on the peninsula. · Two new bulldozers have been ordered. LBPD- Marine Patrol Unit Update Elvira Hallinan, Manager, Marine Bureau gave the following update for Marine Patrol: · Sergeant Diana Hohman retired on December 25, 2018, after 26 years of service. · Judit Pocsai-Blake has been hired as a new Marine Patrol Officer in January. · Marine Patrol is filling additional vacancies. TIDELANDS CAPITAL PROJECTS COMMITTEE Theresa Marino – Chair Commissioner Marino reviewed the current Tidelands Capital Projects. PUBLIC COMMENT None.
