OCEAN BOULEVARD, 1:00 PM Deaka McClain, Chair Ciara Calsita, Member David Gauthier, Vice Chair Sherry Diamond, Member Nubia Flores Cedeno, Secretary Connie Gutierrez, Member Alice Bruns, Member Chris Karadjov, Member Jamone Pili, Member CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Chair McClain at 1:05 pm. ROLL CALL Commissioners Alice Bruns, Sherry Diamond, Connie Gutierrez, Nubia Flores Present: Cedeno and Deaka McClain Commissioners Ciara Calsita, Chris Karadjov, Jamone Pili and David Gauthier Absent: FLAG SALUTE The flag salute was led by Commissioner Gutierrez. PUBLIC COMMENT APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES 19-004CA Recommendation to approve minutes from the January 10, 2019 meeting of the Citizen's Advisory Commission on Disabilities. A motion was made by Commissioner Diamond, seconded by Commissioner Gutierrez, to approve recommendation. OCEAN BOULEVARD, 1:00 PM Absent: 4 - Ciara Calsita, Chris Karadjov, Jamone Pili and David Gauthier STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS 19-005CA Recommendation to receive and file monthly report by the Youth, Employment & Programs standing committee and/or adopt any recommendations this committee would like to make. Commissioner Gutierrez reported that there was no report for this month. A motion was made by Secretary Cedeno, seconded by Commissioner Gutierrez, to approve recommendation. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 5 - Alice Bruns, Sherry Diamond, Connie Gutierrez, Nubia Flores Cedeno and Deaka McClain Absent: 4 - Ciara Calsita, Chris Karadjov, Jamone Pili and David Gauthier 19-006CA Recommendation to receive and file monthly report by the Accessibility, Transportation & Services standing committee and/or adopt any recommendations this body would like to make. Commissioner Diamond reported that there was a discussion to engage Parks & Recreation in a dialogue to possibly start identifyng classes and programs in their catalogues that are designated as adaptive. A motion was made by Commissioner Gutierrez, seconded by Commissioner Diamond, to approve recommendation. OCEAN BOULEVARD, 1:00 PM STAFF REPORT Citywide Accessibility Coordinator, Heather Blackmun, reported the following: -The ADA Public Hearings related to the updated transition plan for the right-of-way would occur in March -Abilites Expo was taking place on February 22-24 at the Los Angeles Convention Center -City of Long Beach was working hard to get ready for Census 2020 -Disabled Resources Center woul dbe having their annual gala on Thursday, May 16th, 2019 CHAIRPERSON AND/OR VICE CHAIR CLOSING REMARKS ANNOUNCEMENTS Commission Cedeno announced the recent resolution passed by LBUSD on inclusive education practices. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Letter of recomendation to adopt a resolution for more inclusionary practices Citywide, mirrored after the recent resolution adopted by LBUSD for inclusionary education practices ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 1:35 pm.
