CALL TO ORDER
At 2:30 p.m., Chairman Turpin called the meeting to order via teleconference.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. 21-008MA Recommendation to approve the Marine Advisory Commission minutes
for the meeting held on Thursday, March 11, 2021.
A motion was made by Commissioner Brown, seconded by
Commissioner Daniels, to approve recommendation. The
motion carried by the following vote:
Yes: 8 - Nathaniel Brown, Camille Daniels, Elizabeth Lambe, Bruce
Mac Rae, Theresa Marino, Jo Murray, Tom Mayes and
Mark Turpin
Absent: 1 - Colin Kelly
MANAGER'S REPORT TO COMMISSION
2. 21-009MA Recommendation to receive and file the Manager's monthly oral
updates.
LBPD - Marine Patrol Unit
James Smigla, Sergeant, LBPD/Marine Patrol reviewed the following:
● Incident at Dock GG.
● Incident at London Boat rentals.
● Twenty Year Service Celebration - Three officers will be announced in
the next Marina Reader.
LBFD - Marine Safety/Lifeguards
Omar Naranjo, Safety Captain, LBFD/Lifeguards reviewed the following:

● Staff are assisting at the vaccination sites.
● Reviewed the recent fire at the Lifeguard station and replacement time
line.
Captain Naranjo thanked Cory Forrester and Elvira Hallinan for all their
support.
Commissioner Mac Rae inquired about the replacement cost of the
Lifeguard tower.
Captain Naranjo responded with the estimated tower replacement cost:
$51,000.
Marine Operations
Elvira Hallinan, Manager, Marinas and Beaches, provided an update on the
following topics:
● Occupancy rates were reviewed.
● Vacancies were reviewed for 30’ and 40’ slips.
● Reviewed the AES meeting held on March 30, 2021, teleconference,
LBYC.
● Small skimmer purchase for Alamitos Bay Marina.
● Development Services will provide an update on Beach Concessions at
next month’s meeting.
Commissioner Lambe spoke.
Marine Maintenance
Eric Woodson, Superintendent, Marine Maintenance, reviewed the
following:
● Painting curbs in Basin 4, LBYC.
● DTM - Upgrade key system.
● Pony gates installation.
Elvira Hallinan reviewed the upcoming Capital Projects Improvement -

Eric Woodson, Superintendent, Marine Maintenance, reviewed the
Peninsula berm and Junipero Beach nourishment.
A motion was made by Vice Chair Mayes, seconded by
Commissioner Marino, to approve recommendation. The
motion carried by the following vote:
Yes: 8 - Nathaniel Brown, Camille Daniels, Elizabeth Lambe, Bruce
Mac Rae, Theresa Marino, Jo Murray, Tom Mayes and
Mark Turpin
Absent: 1 - Colin Kelly

Melinda Cotton spoke on the new concession stands in the Granada area.
