ROLL CALL Elvira Hallinan, Manager, Marinas and Beaches took roll call and confirmed a quorum. A motion was made by Vice Chair Mayes, seconded by Commissioner Marino, to approve recommendation. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 8 - Nathaniel Brown, Camille Daniels, Colin Kelly, Elizabeth Lambe, Theresa Marino, Jo Murray, Tom Mayes and Mark Turpin Absent: 1 - Bruce Mac Rae NEW BUSINESS 2. 21-031MA Recommendation to receive and file report on FY22 Budget Adoption and Status of FY21. A motion was made by Chair Turpin, seconded by Commissioner Brown, to receive and file. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 8 - Nathaniel Brown, Camille Daniels, Colin Kelly, Elizabeth Lambe, Theresa Marino, Jo Murray, Tom Mayes and Mark Turpin Absent: 1 - Bruce Mac Rae 3. 21-032MA Recommendation to receive and file status report on the Alamitos Bay Parking Management Study and discuss November 2021 evening meeting and presentation. The Walker Group will review the Alamitos Bay Marina parking study findings and recommendations to the Marine Advisory Commission on November 11, 2021, 6 p.m., Special Meeting, This meeting will take the place of the regular scheduled 2:30 p.m. meeting. LBPD - Marine Patrol Unit Page 3 of 6 CITY OF LONG BEACH THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2021 MARINE ADVISORY TELECONFERENCE, 2:30 PM COMMISSION MINUTES James Smigla, Sergeant, LBPD/Marine Patrol provided an update on the following: ● Grand Prix preparation. ● Marine Patrol is down six officers. Interviews are being conducted. ● Bayshore closure ends September 15, 2021. Beach Maintenance Cory Forrester, Superintendent, Beach Maintenance, reviewed the following: ● Hurricane off Baja. ● Building out the beach in anticipation for next week’s storm surge. Commissioner Marino spoke of a person who cleans up toys on the beaches. Elvira Hallinan spoke. Marine Maintenance Eric Woodson, Superintendent, Marine Maintenance, reviewed the following: ● Grand Prix preparation. ● Sign replacement. · Sidewalk repair at LBYC. · Mr. Woodson thanked his custodial staff for their hard work this summer. · Christmas trees in the bay. Marine Operations Todd Leland, Superintendent, Marine Operations provided the following update: ● Grand Prix, September 23rd - 26th in Shoreline Marina. ● Long Beach Marathon October 10th - 11th ● Concessions vendor review. ● Shoreline camera project. ● 2022 Parking passes - Distribution reviewed ● October 23rd boat auction at Alamitos Bay Marina. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 8 - Nathaniel Brown, Camille Daniels, Colin Kelly, Elizabeth Lambe, Theresa Marino, Jo Murray, Tom Mayes and Mark Turpin Absent: 1 - Bruce Mac Rae COMMITTEE STATUS REPORTS EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE Mark Turpin - Chair Chairman Turpin commented all items were reviewed at today’s meeting. TIDELANDS CAPITAL PROJECTS COMMITTEE Colin Kelly - Chair Commissioner Kelly reviewed the Junipero Concessionaire, Belmont Pier Visioning, and Davies Launch Ramp. Vice Chairman Mayes spoke. Commissioner Kelly spoke. PUBLIC COMMENT Gabriela Yates thanked Cory Forrester and Marine Patrol for their assistance with the summer interns.
