CALL TO ORDER
The Parks and Recreation Commission meeting was called to order by President Ron
Antonette at 9:07 a.m., at the El Dorado West Sr. Center, Bridge Room. Interim Director
Scott took roll call and confirmed a quorum.

Michelle Wilson introduced Ken Roberts, Interim Superintendent of Facility Maintenance as
the November 2015 Employee of the Month. Hurley Owens spoke regarding Ken Roberts
leadership and teamwork in the Department. Congratulations Ken Roberts!
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. 15-081PR Recommendation to approve the Parks & Recreation Commission
Meeting minutes of November 19, 2015.
A motion was made by Vice President Goldberg, seconded by
Commissioner Ursua, to approve recommendation. The motion
carried by the following vote:

2. 15-076PR Authorize the Director, or his or her management designee, to execute
the Personal Services and Instruction Agreements and amend
Attachment "A" of the agreements as needed.

4. 15-078PR Approve the proposed improvements to Cherry Park and authorize the
Director of Parks, Recreation and Marine to execute all documents
necessary for a Right of Entry Permit for Long Beach Plaza Little League
and/or its agents for a period of two years; accept a donation of planning,
labor and materials; and install various improvements to the fields at
Cherry Park. (District 7)
A motion was made by Vice President Goldberg, seconded by
Commissioner Heggeness, to approve recommendation. The
motion carried by the following vote:

Vice President Goldberg asked about the naming of the North Library and PRM's
involvement. Interim Director Scott stated PRM would be involved in assisting the Library
Services Department with Community Outreach.

and Recreation Commission on non-agenda items. Each speaker is limited to three
minutes unless extended by the Parks and Recreation Commission.
Lucy Johnson spoke.
STAFF COMMENTS:
Gladys Kaiser provided an overview of PRM Holiday events and vacation programs for
youth during the winter break.
Meredith Reynolds provided an update on grants and specifically the grant application for
the El Dorado Duck Pond.

Commissioner Zanatta asked about the PRM process for dealing with homeless issues.
Hurley Owens provided an overview of the City process.
Interim Director Scott spoke regarding PRM accomplishments in 2015. He thanked the
Commission for their hard work.
COMMISSIONER COMMENTS:
Commissioner Zanatta wished all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Commissioner Ursua thanked PRM staff for their hard work. She's very happy to be part of
the Commission.
Commissioner Heggeness wished everyone Happy Holidays.
Commissioner Sievers wished everyone Happy Holidays.
Vice President Goldberg wished everyone Happy Holidays and thanked everyone for their
hard work.
President Antonette thanked everyone for a wonderful year and gave wishes for Happy
Holidays.
