Lori introduced Heidi Mazas. Heidi is so deserving of the Employee of the Month. She came to Long Beach from Signal Hill approximately two years ago. She is very involved not only in the Department, but also at the State level with the California Parks & Recreation Society as an outstanding leader in training and mentoring. STUDEBAKER ROAD, 9:00 AM 5. 17-077PR Support the proposed improvements to an undeveloped portion of Houghton Park, and recommend the City Council approve a two-year Right of Entry Permit and any other necessary documents, with the Long Beach Community Foundation, a California Nonprofit Corporation, and/or its agents, to make various improvements to Houghton Park, and to accept a donation of planning, labor and materials related to the various improvements. A motion was made by Commissioner Morales, seconded by Commissioner Antonette, to approve the recommendation. An amended motion was made by Commissioner Morales and accepted by Commissioner Antonette, to authorize the Director of Parks, Recreation and Marine to extend the date of sunset for existing permits until September 30, 2019, and begin drafting a new policy for the regulation and adminsitration of commercial activities in City parks; during this time PRM staff should work with current permit operators to gather additional financial data that could help the Commission in making a final determination. The Director shall provide an update to the Parks and Recreation Commission by the June, 2018 Parks & Recreation Commission meeting. None Gladys Kaiser provided information on holiday programming. The grand opening of the artificial turf field at Seaside Park will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11 a.m. COMMISSIONERS Vice Chair Heggeness and all Commissioners requested the meeting be closed in honor of Jerry Caligueri, a true steward for the City.
