Commissioner Prager read the mission statement.

Cecile Harris Walters, MPA Independent Associate at LegalShield discussed Identity Theft and the
monthly costs.
STAFF REPORT
Gladys Kaiser, Community Recreation Services Manager reported on the City Council meeting
she attended Tuesday, February 20, 2018.
Gladys Kaiser, Community Recreation Services Manager intorduced Mercedez Perezchica, Health
Dept. Program Manager.
Gladys Kaiser, Community Recreation Services Manager announced that the Director, Marie
Knight's last day with PRM is February 23, 2018 and Stephen Scott will be the acting director until
the position is filled.

Commissioner Finney presented commissioners a SCAC brochure for review.

Commissioner Carter reported on a mapping app that tracks criminal activities.

Quarterly Senior Citizen Advisory Commission meetings be held at various locations.
The motion was made by Commissioner Prager, seconded by
Commissioner Eomurian , to approve recommendation. The
motion was passed by the following vote:

Prager and Robert Finney
Excused: 3 - Jo Prabhu, Mary Sedillo and Naida Tushnet

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Motion to reinstate the Senior Citizen Advisory Commission By-laws.
The motion was made by Commissioner Darnauer, seconded by
Commissioner Eomurian, to approve recommendation. The
motion was passed by the following vote:

Prager and Robert Finney
Excused: 3 - Jo Prabhu, Mary Sedillo and Naida Tushnet

COMMISSIONER ANNOUNCEMENTS
Commissioner Prager announced there will be a 27th Annual Interfaith Intercultural Breakfast on
Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at the Long Beach Convention Center.
Commissioner Prager announced there will be two guest speakers at the March meeting at
Chavez Park, Wednesday, March 21, 2018. They will be discussing the Pros and cons of rent
control.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
Gray Panthers representative, Ms. Reside announced the Long Beach Gray Panthers along with
Cara will be sponsoring a SSC, Medicare and Medicaid informational event at the Steel Workers
Hall located at 1200 East 220th Street in Carson on March 24, 2018 from 1 pm to 3 pm and invited
everyone to attend.
Gray Panthers representative, Ms. Reside announced the Long Beach Gray Panthers will be
hosting a Senior Fest at Silverado Park on May 12, 2018 and invited everyone to attend.
Gray Panthers representative, Ms. Reside gave an update on the City Council meeting regarding
Park Equity and the need of additional study for 6 months.
Patron, Richard Castle talked about the LB Transit and the Broadway Corridor.
Patron, Richard Castle announced there will be a LB Transit meeting at City Council at 12 noon on
February 26, 2018 and encouraged everyone to attend.
NEXT MEETING
The General meeting of the Long Beach Senior Citizen Advisory Commission will be held March
21, 2018 at 9:00 am, at Cesar Chavez Park located at 401 Golden Avenue, Long Beach, 90802.

At 9:54 a.m., Commissioner Finney adjourned the meeting.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
Opportunity is given to those members of the public who would like to address the
Senior Citizen Advisory Commission on non-agenda items. Each speaker is limited to
three minutes. The Brown Act prohibits Commissioners from responding to comments
on non-agenda items.
