ITEM NO. 1
DEPARTMENTAL REPORT
Conni Pallini-Tipton, Senior City Planner, updated the commission on the following issues:
• Three (3) ballot measures that were passed in November’s election. Measures M, JJJ and
HHH were approved providing funding for Transportation, Housing and Jobs and Homeless
Resources. These measures will require the Department of City Planning (DCP) to implement
ordinances and entail future work program items that we will report on in future meetings
• DCP continues work on the update of the City's Community Plans. The San Pedro Community
is scheduled to be heard by Planning and Land Use Management in December of this year
along with release of its Final Environmental Impact Report. The Draft Plans for the South and
Southeast LA Community Plans have been available and the Draft Environmental Impact
Report is out for 90 comment. All materials are available on the DCP website. Two (2) Public
Hearings are scheduled for December 3, 2016 and December 6, 2016 along with virtual open
house online
• This past October, DCP issued an advisory policy on above ground parking for discretionary
projects. The policy discourages above grade parking and advises that projects seeking
discretionary approval integrate architectural features to screen parking located above grade.
The advisory should be available on the DCP website
