OFFICIAL CITY OF LOS ANGELES Cultural Heritage Commission Minutes January 19, 2017 200 North Spring Street, City Hall Los Angeles, California 90012 MINUTES OF THE CULTURAL HERITAGE COMMISSION HEREIN ARE REPORTED IN ACTION FORMAT. Commissioner Barron called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. with Commissioners Kennard, Irvine and Milofsky present. Commissioner Buelna was not in attendance. Also in attendance were Ken Bernstein, Principal City Planner representing the Director of Planning; Lambert Giessinger, Architect and Melissa Jones, Planning Assistant, representing the Office of Historic Resources; Kimberly Huangfu Deputy City Attorney; Harold Arrivillaga, Commission Executive Assistant and Cecilia Lamas, Senior Administrative Clerk, Commission Office Staff. ___________________________________ ITEM NO. 1 DIRECTOR’S REPORT Ken Bernstein, Principal City Planner updated the Commission on various items of interest related to the Planning Department. __________________________________ ITEM NO. 2 COMMISSION BUSINESS Old Business: • There were no updates related to the Los Angeles Unified School District Historic Schools Investment Fund Board. • There was no Proposed Historic-Cultural Monument Plaque Artwork to review. New Business: Advanced Calendar: Commissioner Irvine noted he would be absent from the Cultural Heritage Commission meeting of February 2, 2017. Meeting Minutes January 19, 2017 Cultural Heritage Commission Commission Announcements/Request: The Commission requested a presentation related to the Civic Center Master Plan. Meeting Minutes: Approval of the meeting minutes of December 15, 2016 was postponed to a future date. ___________________________________ ITEM NO. 3 NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL There were no presentations given by any Neighborhood Council representatives. ___________________________________ ITEM NO. 4 PROPOSED MONUMENT: SPINNING WHEEL APARTMENTS PROPERTY ADDRESS: 423-427 North Hayworth Avenue CHC-2017-4770-HCM ENV-2017-4771-CE Council District 5 - Koretz MOTION: Commissioner Milofsky moved to take the proposed designation of the Spinning Wheel Apartments under consideration. All requests to address the Commission on public hearing items must be submitted prior to the Commission’s consideration of the item. Commission meetings may be heard on Council Phone by dialing (213) 621-2489 or (818) 904-9450. To ensure that the Commission has ample opportunity to review written materials, members of the public who wish to submit written materials on agenda items should submit them electronically to CHC@lacity.org or to the Commission Office, 200 North Spring Street, Room 532, Los Angeles, CA 90012, at least 8 days prior to the meeting. Note: Materials received after the deadline will be placed in the official case file. Day of hearing submissions (10 copies must be provided) are limited to 2 pages plus accompanying photographs and/or posters.
