TOWN OF LOS GATOS MEETING DATE: 12/18/2025 DEIC COMMISSION AGENDA REPORT Minutes of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission Meeting November 20, 2025 The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Commission of the Town of Los Gatos conducted a regular meeting in person in the Town Council Chambers on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. CALL MEETING TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 5:06 p.m. ROLL CALL Present: Chair Gordon Yamate and Commissioners D. Michael Kane, Tooba Ahmed, Anne Lamborn, and Gregory Gentile. Vice Chair Fisher participated by phone pursuant to the Brown Act. Youth Commission Liaisons Present: Wilbur Huang and Nia Khanna. Town Staff Present: Assistant Town Manager Katy Nomura and Senior Management Analyst Holly Young. VERBAL COMMUNICATIONS Opened public comment. Member of the Public - Commented on various concerns. Closed public comment. CONSENT ITEMS 1. Approve the Draft Minutes of the October 16, 2025 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission Regular Meeting. Opened public comment. MOTION: Motion by Commissioner Kane to approve the minutes from the October 16th meeting with one edit to add Wendy Wood to the Town staff present. Seconded by Commissioner Ahmed. VOTE: Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote. OTHER BUSINESS 2. Discuss Outreach to the Community in the Categories of (1) Education/Schools, (2) Religious Groups, (3) Businesses, and (4) Non-Profits/Service Organizations Regarding Opportunities for Collaboration (Work Plan Item 3 Related to DEI Plan Goal C, Item 1.a.i.). Opened public comment. No one spoke. Closed public comment. The Commission discussed the item. 3. Discuss Ways the DEI Commission Can make Visible the Equity Issues that Matter to the Larger Community, Including Action Items to Promote the Safety and Inclusivity of its Community Members (Work Plan Discussion Item C. Related to DEI Plan Goal A.2.a.). Opened public comment. Member of the Public - Commented on various concerns. Closed public comment. The Commission discussed the item. COMMISSIONER/STAFF LIAISON REPORTS Staff Liaison Young reported that Commissioner interviews are taking place at a Special Council Meeting on November 24 and the last meeting of the DEI Commission for 2025 will be on December 18. Vice Chair Fisher reported that she attended meetings at the mosque and JCC and a mosque neighborhood coffee event. PAGE 3 OF 3 SUBJECT: Minutes of the DEI Commission Meeting of November 20, 2025 DATE: December 18, 2025 Commissioner Kane reported that he talked to people about applying to the Commission, learned a lot watching the Ken Burns “The American Revolution” program, and that everyone is invited to the Interfaith Thanksgiving Service sponsored by the Los Gatos Interfaith Clergy Association that evening at St. Mary’s. Commissioner Ahmed reported that she attended a JCC and a WVMA meeting. Commissioner Lamborn reported that the Arts and Culture Commission met yesterday and she will try to bring a motion forward to support the Constitution project at its next meeting and that she attended a four-day symposium regarding Indigenous art. Chair Yamate reported that he met with Vice Chair Fisher to discuss DEI issues, attended TWW Indivisible LG meetings, and organized a program for ALF Silicon Valley Senior Fellows group regarding Sharp Park Detention Center. Commissioner Gentile reported that the Hand[Righting] the Constitution project proposal was supported by the Community Health and Senior Services Commission and that he worked on educating the community regarding mass transportation. Youth Commission Liaison Huang reported that the Youth Commission’s Traffic Safety Ad Hoc is working on getting bus passes and better bus schedules for students. Youth Commission Liaison Khanna reported that the Youth Commission seems interested in the Constitution project and will discuss it further. Vice Chair Fisher will be participating by telephone from a remote location at 1658 Kearney St, Denver, CO 80220. The telephone location shall be accessible to the public and the agenda will be posted at the telephone location 72 hours before the meeting. The Town of Los Gatos strongly encourages your active participation in the public process. If you are interested in providing oral comments during the meeting, you must attend in-person, complete a speaker’s card, and return it to the staff. If you wish to speak to an item on the agenda, please list the item number on the speaker card. The time allocated to speakers may change to better facilitate the meeting. If you are unable to attend the meeting in-person, you are welcome to submit written comments via email to clerk@losgatosca.gov. Public Comment During the Meeting: When called to speak, please limit your comments to three (3) minutes, or such other time as the Chair may decide, consistent with the time limit for speakers at a Town meeting. Speakers at public meetings may be asked to provide their name and to state whether they are a resident of the Town of Los Gatos. Providing this information is not required.
