December 18, 2025
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Commission of the Town of Los Gatos conducted a
regular meeting in person in the Town Council Chambers on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at
5:00 p.m.
CALL MEETING TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 5:01 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Present: Chair Gordon Yamate, Vice Chair Diane Fisher, and Commissioners Carmen Lo, D.
Michael Kane, Tooba Ahmed, and Gregory Gentile.
Youth Commission Liaisons Present: Wilbur Huang.
Town Staff Present: Senior Management Analyst Holly Young. Assistant Town Manager Katy
Nomura arrived at 5:41 p.m.

MOTION: Motion by Commissioner Kane to accept the minutes as presented with one edit to
add that the interfaith meeting referenced in his Commissioner Report was the
Interfaith Thanksgiving Service sponsored by the Los Gatos Interfaith Clergy
Association. Seconded by Vice Chair Fisher.
VOTE: Motion passed unanimously.
OTHER BUSINESS
2. Discuss Outreach to the Community in the Categories of (1) Education/Schools, (2)
Religious Groups, (3) Businesses, and (4) Non-Profits/Service Organizations Regarding
Opportunities for Collaboration (Work Plan Item 3 Related to DEI Plan Goal C, Item 1.a.i.).

Staff Liaison Young reported that all seats on the DEI Commission have been filled for 2026 and
the next meeting will be January 15.
Commissioner Kane reported that he is a caregiver for a person fighting cancer and discussed all
Commissioners sharing information regarding local events related to DEI with all other
Commissioners through the Commission liaison.
Commissioner Gentile reported that his Community Health and Senior Services Commission
task force is working with the Complete Streets and Transportation Commission on ways to
transport seniors and students in Town. As a Rotary member, he also volunteered at Santa’s
Workshop and rode the trolley as an ambassador for the Town.
Commissioner Ahmed reported that during this heavy time in the world and following the
attacks in Australia, we all stand with the Jewish community and that people are also
concerned because of two recent mass shootings that occurred locally.
Chair Yamate reported that he attended the new Mayor’s cabinet meeting, swearing-in
ceremony and after party, and the Together We Will and Los Gatos Indivisible holiday event.
Vice Chair Fisher reported that she appreciates the sense of solidarity expressed here, attended
the Hanukkah event in Los Gatos, the Mayor’s swearing-in ceremony, the last Council meeting,
and the Campbell Union School District meeting where the Branham High School swastika
incident was discussed.
Commissioner Lo reported that she provided comments in her personal capacity to the Town
Council in support of raising the Pride Flag.
Youth Commission Liaison Huang reported that the Youth Commission participated in the
holiday parade, some members attended the Mayor’s swearing-in ceremony, the Youth
Commission presented its workplan, the Youth Commission is looking for support from
Commissioners for community outreach events, and the Youth Commission ad hoc working on
bus passes for youth could potentially collaborate with the Community Health and Senior
Services Commission and the Complete Streets and Transportation Commission on
transportation for seniors and students.

change to better facilitate the meeting. If you are unable to attend the meeting in-person, you
are welcome to submit written comments via email to clerk@losgatosca.gov.
Public Comment During the Meeting:
When called to speak, please limit your comments to three (3) minutes, or such other time as the
Chair may decide, consistent with the time limit for speakers at a Town meeting.
Speakers at public meetings may be asked to provide their name and to state whether they are a
resident of the Town of Los Gatos. Providing this information is not required.
