Council on Aging (COA) Advisory Board
Meeting Agenda
Monday, June 14, 2021 at 9:00am
at Lowell Senior Center
I. Roll Call
Attending: Andrew Hostetler (chair), Mary Donnelly, Beverly Gonsalves, Judith
Huber, Vincenzo Milinazzo, Molyka Tieng and Lillian Hartman. Absent: Joyce Dastou,
John Lawlor, Anne-Marie Porter
Our two newest members, Judith Huber and Molyka Tieng were welcomed
II. Pledge of Allegiance
III. Approval of Minutes: the May 10th minutes were approved, first by Beverly
Gonsalves and second by Vincenzo Milinazzo. All members were in favor.
IV. Chairperson’s Report. Andy informed all board members that this is our last
meeting until Monday September 13, 2021. An Age Friendly meeting is scheduled
for June 28, 2021.
V. Director’s Report: Lillian went over the Director’s Report for June.
Lillian informed all of us to complete Ethics Training by the end of June. Judy
asked if we could complete this on our own E-Mail. Lillian said that we could, but
we would need to provide Lillian with the Certificate of Completion. Also, at our
next meeting we should have the election of officers for the LCOA.
VI. Committee Reports
a. Outreach: No meeting is scheduled at present. Judy and Molyka were both
interested in joining this committee.
b. HAC Andy described that this committee reviews mission, reviews needs and
services provided (starting with nutrition with partners such as Mill City Grows),
creates goals or action plan. Also, to become an accredited Senior Center, “do we
have a measurable outcome?”
VII. Old Business
a. Lillian said that Carol Lannon is now the weekend cook. Lillian is looking for an
Assistant Director, Amy Leal is filling in today as receptionist. Volunteer Claire
Brodeur has retired.
VIII. New Business
a. Andy and Lillian will have a meeting related to grants including computer
training. Mary Donnelly spoke about challenges of requiring senior volunteers
to use computers.
b. We could invite guests to speak at future board meetings. We could visit other
Senior Centers, Elder Services and brainstorm in the fall for speakers from
other Centers.
IX. OTHER
a. Lillian informed all that Chelmsford will provide a Veteran’s Breakfast in June.
