Lowell Cultural Council Meeting Minutes February 27,2024 Attending: - Erin Duffey (Administrator) - Beth Noel - Bethanne Welch - Meghan Stebbins - Rona Gofstein (via Zoom) The meeting was called to order at 6:35 PM. 1. Review LCC Grants 24-24 for Reimbursement Mill City Festival Fund Family Programming totaled to $1,587.50. These are progress payments 2. State Ethics Training - Some members received mail from the Office of the City Clerk alerting them to training regarding State Ethans & Open Meeting Law. This needs to be done every other year and reviewed yearly. Links are given and it should be fairly straightforward 3. General Discussion a. Photos were recently taken at an event at Gallery Z. Person asked not to photograph the exhibit and claimed he was from the LCC. We have no knowledge of this. BN is checking to see if this was Brett. b. Mass Cultural Council has told us that the money in the Council Initiated Project fund cannot be used to hire someone to help with social media. This can only come out of the Administrative Budget. BN and Erin will review how much is in that fund and how we can use it for both this hire and the Grantee Reception. c. Grantee Reception - will be held on Thursday, April 25th, the location is TBD. Beth will reach out to Joe Pyne to see if he can help us with planning and shopping as well as to learn if the Whistler House will be open to hosting again. With a thought to hiring the social media manager, we will review catering needs and costs as well as finalize where to hold the event. d. Council Initiated Project - we are returning to the initial idea of hosting an Arts Market to be held in the fall. We will be looking for locations. RG suggested Mill 5 and BN will reach out to contacts there. Also considered is holding it the same weekend as the Kinetic Sculpture Race to bring in more traffic. At the next meeting we need to discuss how to get the word out and invite vendors, decide on any vetting process, dates, location, etc. Meeting adjourned at 7:25 PM. END
