Lowell Cultural Council Meeting Minutes May 28, 2024 Attending: Erin Duffey (Administrator); Rona Gofstein; Beth Noel; Kshitij Karke (KK); Meghan Stebbins; Chanmony Huot; Bethanne Welch The meeting was called to order at 6:33 PM. Review Grants ● Discussion on various grant applications and their statuses. Public Art Permit Review ● Review of a public art permit and a call for art using some grant funding on cement bump outs. Council Initiated Project: Lowell Makers Market ● Positive conversation with Mill No. 5 about partnering for the art market and grantee reception. ● 32 Lowell locals can be invited, with funding coverage for Lowell artists. ● $1000 would be available for supplies after marketing and targeted ads. ● The event was planned as an all-day activity for volunteers. ● Final communication with Jim about the event date (September 28). Reception Space Rental ● Rental cost for post-summer event space: $150. ● Configurable space set up as needed. ● Budget: $3412 in admin funds. ● Potential date: Thursday, September 19, 6:30 - 8:30 PM. ● Encourage attendees to send marketing materials or pictures via the response form. ● Reminders are to be sent on August 1st and end of August. ● Catering and invites need to be figured out and confirmed. Vendor Payments ● Possible delays in vendor payments at the end of the fiscal year. ● Rona will notify vendors if reimbursement emails are received during this period.
