Lowell Cultural Council Meeting Minutes ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ Jan 7, 2025 Attending: Erin Duffey (Administrator); Rona Gofstein; Bethanne Welch; Chanmony Huot; Meghan Rourke; Beth Noel; Maritza Medina (Guest), Johnny Valdez (Guest) The meeting was called to order at 6:40 PM. Introductions ●​ Beth Noel gave a general overview of the Cultural Council, and introduced guests Maritza Medina, and Johnny Valdez of the Tescobar Performance Center. They stated an interest in getting to know Lowell as a whole, and find out more about the Cultural Council. 2025 Financial Overview ●​ Admin Fund: $5,000 will be set aside. ●​ Council-Initiated Program: $5,000 will be set aside. General Discussion ●​ Beth Noel provided a recap of the Canalway Cultural District meeting on 1/7/25. The City has reconvened the committee, with representation from multiple cultural entities, business owners, and residents. ○​ Mass Cultural Council will be holding their Cultural District Initiative press conference in Lowell at Merrimack Repertory Theatre on February 13th at 1pm. LCC members are welcome to attend to support the Mass Cultural Council and the Cultural Canalway District. ●​ Maritza Medina gave a general overview of the Tescobar, a performance venue in Downtown Lowell. Review and Signature of Reimbursements ●​ Reviewed and signed reimbursement requests for 2024. Meeting adjourned at 7:30 PM. END
