Re: Teacher and Administrator Hiring Report 2015-2016
The Human Resource Office is currently in the process of completing hiring for the 2015-2016 school year.
Here are some of the key pieces of information as we start the school year:
To date, we have hired 96 permanent appointment teachers who are new to the Lowell
Public Schools and 20 long-term substitutes for the school year. Twenty-six of the 96 newly
appointed teachers are residents of the city of Lowell.
New Principals have been hired at the Butler Middle School and the Pawtucketville
Memorial Elementary School. One Elementary Principal transferred to a Middle School
Principal position.
Candidates who were promoted from within the Lowell Public Schools include two new
Assistant Principals, one Alternative School Coordinator, four Literacy Specialists and
Assistant Director of Human Resources.
Five Social Worker and 3 guidance counselor positions were also posted and filled.

The following parent/guardian seeks permission to home educate their child:

Under General Laws Chapter 76, Section 1, Home Education is constitutionally
permissible. Therefore, I recommend approval of this request.
If granted, the number of families approved by the Lowell School Committee to home
school will total 37 and the total number of children will be 56.
