The report included the hiring of teachers, principals, assistant principals, literacy specialists, a coordinator and an assistant director of human resources. The report was accepted as a report of progress. Here are some of the key pieces of information as we start the school year:  To date, we have hired 96 permanent appointment teachers who are new to the Lowell Public Schools and 20 long-term substitutes for the school year. Twenty-six of the 96 newly appointed teachers are residents of the city of Lowell.  New Principals have been hired at the Butler Middle School and the Pawtucketville Memorial Elementary School.
