THE CITY OF MADEIRA BEACH, FLORIDA PUBLIC NOTICE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS AGENDA SETTING MEETING The Board of Commissioners of the City of Madeira Beach, Florida will meet at City Hall, located at 300 Municipal Drive, Madeira Beach, Florida to discuss the agenda items of City Business listed at the time indicated below. 5:30P.M. WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2014 AUDITORIUM AGENDA SETTING- FOR BOC WORKSHOP -NOVEMBER 25, 2014 CALL TO ORDER - The meeting was called to order at 5:32 p.m. ROLL CALL MEMBERS PRESNT: Nancy Hodges, Vice-Mayor Terry Lister, Commissioner District 1 Elaine Poe, Commissioner District 3 Pat Shontz, Commissioner District 4 MEMBERS ABSENT: Travis Palladeno, Mayor STAFF PRESENT: Shane Crawford, City Manager (CM) Thomas Trask, City Attorney (CA) Aimee Servedio, City Clerk (CC) Vince Tenaglia, Finance Director (FD) Dave Marsicano, Central Services Director (CSD) 1. TOPICS: A. PRESENTATION FROM SWAT (STUDENTS WORKING AGAINST TOBACCO) CM: This is a student group that requested to speak at a commissioner's meeting. They will make a brief presentation. B. PRESENTATION FROM CITY OF INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, COMMISSIONER KENNEDY, MPO (METROPOLITIAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION) OF THE BEACHES TO DISCUSS THE ROLES AND RESPONSIBILTIES OF THE MPO. CM: Commissioner Kennedy has also requested to speak so she has been scheduled for that day. C. UPDATE ON THE MEDICAL MARIJUANA AMENDMENT 11/12/2014 Agenda Setting Meeting CM: Update on the CA and Commissioner Poe on medical marijuana - even though the amendment didn't pass, we still need consider what action we do or do not want to take on the issue. Items not on the agenda that the CM recommends: The Tampa Riverwalk issue - he was interviewed by Bay News 9 because of how we regulate alcohol on the beach. The City was approached by John's Pass about becoming a wet zone. Tampa created an area of eight (8) vendors that all worked together with a universal cup to visit the different establishments. The Board was not in favor of a wet zone, but this could be another option to discuss. There is also an update on a FEMA grant he will present to the Board with the COD. The Building Official and the CM have a few amendments to the Rental Inspection ordinance that are small issues but with which need to be dealt. He has met with Commissioner Poe and she is aware and okay with the adjustments. A motion to approve the Agenda for the November Workshop was made by Commissioner Lister and seconded by Commissioner Shontz.
