THE CITY OF MADEIRA BEACH, FLORIDA PUBLIC NOTICE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS SPECIAL MEETING The Board of Commissioners of the City of Madeira Beach, Florida will meet at City Hall, located at 300 Municipal Drive, Madeira Beach, Florida to discuss the agenda items of City Business listed at the time indicated below. 1:45 P.M. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 AUDITORIUM A. CALL TO ORDER - The meeting was called to order at 1:45 p.m. B. INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Invocation by Commissioner Lister C. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES - NONE E. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA Item G.2. was removed from the agenda. A motion to approve the Agenda as amended was made by Commissioner Lister and seconded by·V-M Hodges. PUBLIC COMMENT (limited to 3 minutes) G. CONSENT AGENDA 08/27/2014 BOC Special Meeting  1. AUTHORIZATION OF EXPENDITURES OVER $15,000 FOR THE PURCHASE OF FUEL DOCK. 2. AUTHORIZATION OF EXPENDITURES OVER $15,000 FOR THE PURCHASE OF B-DOCK. A motion to approve the Consent Agenda was made by Commissioner Poe and seconded by Commissioner Shontz. CM: He is asking that Item 2 be moved to the next meeting. They put out electrical bids and we are still in the process. Commissioner Lister asked to amend the agenda and previous vote. The CSD deserves a lot of praise for this because he is trying to get the best deal. The City is going to piggyback off another project for the purchase of the dock itself. This way, the CSD can proceed immediately. CSD: IT will be an aluminum floating dock, similar to the one at McDonald's. It will serve the City great for many years. Mayor Palladeno: Will this dock have anything where the hoses can stay out during the day? CSD: Yes, they will stay out during the day and be put away at night. Mayor Palladeno: Commended the CSD on all of his hard work and the success of the recent Loop Tournament. Commissioner Shontz actually participated in the very first tournament. It originated here and now has come back to the City. It was a good showing and we had a fantastic weigh-in -the Marina staff did a great job! CSD: Coming up soon is also the Ladies' Tournament - there is a lot of fun stuff happening. Randy Keys won the event; they caught about four or five different fish. A home town guy won. CM: It is definitely worth the effort, this brings in a lot of revenue and recognition for the City. REPORTS/CORRESPONDENCE • CITY COMMISSION th Mayor Palladeno: September 4 is the captain's meeting for the Ladies' Fishing Tournament and the proceeds go the Mastery Ovarian Cancer Foundation. All of the money goes to the women who need it. Thanks to the Bill Curry family who has helped with this event. Commissioner Shontz: This is the 25th year this tournament has occurred and it was first begun in the memory of a wonderful young lady known around for fishing and she passed away very quickly from ovarian cancer.
