THE CITY OF MADEIRA BEACH, FLORIDA PUBLIC NOTICE BOARD OF COMMlSSIONERS SPECIAL WORKSHOP MEETING The Board of Commissioners of the City of Madeira Beach, Florida will meet at City Hall, located at 300 Municipal Drive, Madeira Beach, Florida to discuss the agenda items of City Business listed at the time indicated below. 4:15 PM JANUARY 15th, 2015 AUDITORIUM REVISED ON 01/14/2015 A. CALL TO ORDER - The meeting was called to order at 4:15 p.m. B. ROLLCALL MEMBERS PRESENT: Travis Palladeno, Mayor Nancy Hodges, Vice-Mayor Terry Lister, Commissioner District 1 Elaine Poe, Commissioner District 3 Pat Shontz, Commissioner District 4 STAFF PRESENT: Vince Tenaglia, Assistant City Manager/Finance Director (ACM/FD) Thomas Trask, City Attorney (CA) Aimee Servedio, City Clerk (CC) Dave Marsicano, Public Works/Marina Director (PW/MD) STAFF ABSENT: Shane Crawford, City Manager (CM) C. TOPICS 1. DISCUSSION ON POSSIBLE PURCHASE AND PLACEMENT OF CITY LIMIT SIGNS Concerned Citizen Request by Richard Lewis, Madeira Beach Resident Travis Palladeno: The Board discussed the City limit signs and asked Dick Lewis to comment. Dick Lewis: Explained that he is describing the city limit signs that mark the City borders near John's Pass Bridge, Duhme Road, and north towards Redington Beach. The specific location is determined, standardized, and maintained by FOOT. He thinks better signage should mark the City. Commissioner Lister: We need nicer "Welcome to the City" signs. This differs from the city limits. He stressed the importance of branding for the City. Marilyn Maginley also spoke and agreed that a "Welcome to Madeira Beach" sign is needed. Another citizen remarked that clearer addresses should also be present on Gulf Boulevard. ~: It is within the budget of the City Manager to purchase nicer signs. This can be done by consensus or motion. The PW/MD explained that staff could look into the permitting allowances with FOOT and additional welcome signage for the FY2016 Budget. Consensus was to have the PW/MD find out some more information and bring this back to the BOC. 1 BOC Special Workshop Meeting - 01/15/2015  2. DISCUSSION ON BRIGHTHOUSE CABLE CHANNEL TO VIEW BOC MEETINGS Aimee Servedio, City Clerk ACM/FD: Bright House is changing the Public Access Channel in February. At the moment, however, public meetings are not broadcasting on the cable channel. Staff needs to know if the Board wishes to continue to try and broadcast via cable and internet, just internet, or however they would like staff to proceed. CC: Basically in the midst of all the construction, something went wrong and the transmission to the cable company went out. Staff would like clarification if they should try to remedy the problem and spend more money on a band-aid or wait until the move next month and get the cable broadcasting out in the new building, or if they Board is satisfied with only broadcasting via the internet. Consensus was to continue to broadcast on the Public Access Channel but wait to re-establish it In the new City Centre. D. ADJOURNMENT- The meeting was adjourned at 4 : ~ 1..
