1 I BOC Agenda Setting Meeting - 02/10/2015
CM: For the first item, the CC and the CM have been looking over the current sign exemption ordinance
and how it is currently related to unemployment. The City has found a happy medium with signage and
thinks it can be re-worked to continue the practices without the unemployment requirement.
Item 2 was requested by Commissioner Poe.
Item 3 is another item that the CM and the CA have been talking about. The City needs to establish a
threshold for pursuing outstanding liens to ensure that the pursuit is cost-effective given the attorney's
fees.
Item 4, Commissioner Shontz and the CM are sitting members on the rotary but they wanted to re-open
the position once a year to see if anyone else is interested. Commissioner Shontz and the CM are happy
to serve again if no one else would like to fill that position. They both showed interest in continuing so
this item was taken off the next workshop agenda.
Item 5 was first worked on by the City contract with Misty Wells. The Bimini sister city relationship fell
through the first time, but the discussion needs to occur as to whether the Board wants to try to salvage
the relationship since Ms. Wells has informed the CM that Bimini want to rekindle the relationship.
Item 6 is a proposal by the Parks & Recreation Director to establish new fees for wedding permits on the
beach. This will help to regulate these events and ensure that they run smoothly and certain areas aren't
overbooked.
Item 7 is a discussion on the Fourth of July Celebration. The CM asked to CC to make this item a bit vaguer
so the Board can discuss the party and events associated w ith the Fourth of July and not just the Fireworks
Bid.
The CM also asked the ACM/FD if he wanted to add some Finance Policies to the agenda as well. They
have been working on trying to address some policies and procedures in regards to the Finance
Department.
Commissioner Poe also expressed interest in holding a Special Workshop to discuss some Charter Review
items. The following Thursday after the February 24th Workshop can be used. That date would be
February 26th • The CA and Commissioner Lister confirmed that they could attend that meeting.
The CM addressed that the viewers at home would only be able to hear the meeting, not see it due to a
major power outage that knocked out the video.
A motion to approve the Agenda for the February 24th Workshop and Special Workshop to be held on
February 26th to discuss the City Charter was made by Commissioner Shontz and seconded by
Commissioner Poe.
