City Council Meeting Monday, January 11, 2016 The meeting was called to order by Mayor Mike Grote. Those in attendance were; Andy Gappa, Larry Schickling and John Nelson. A Motion was made by Larry Schickling and seconded by John Nelson to approve the agenda. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, Larry Schickling and John Nelson, motion was approved with Dave Whitney absent. A Motion was made by Larry Schickling and seconded by John Nelson to approve the minutes of the December 28, 2015 City Council Meeting. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, John Nelson and Larry Schickling, motion was approved with Dave Whitney absent. A Motion was made by Larry Schickling and seconded by Andy Gappa to approve the bills as listed. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa and Larry Schickling, motion was approved with Dave Whitney absent and John Nelson abstaining. A Motion was made by Larry Schickling and seconded by Andy Gappa to approve the 2016 Council Appointments as follow: Acting Mayor: Larry Schickling City Attorney representing Civil matters: Wade Abed City Attorney representing Criminal matters: Patrick Casey Official Financial Depositories: Pioneer Bank & Alliance Bank Official Publication – Madelia Times Messenger Board of Adjustment & Appeals: City Council Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, John Nelson and Larry Schickling, motion was approved with Dave Whitney absent. A Motion was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by John Nelson to approve the 2016 Mayor Appointments as follow: All Boards and Commissions will remain the same for 2016 with the following exceptions: Appoint Tom Kunz and Cody Eager to the Golf Commission for a term of two years. Appoint Rubi Altamirano to the Pool Commission for a term of two years. Appoint Larry Schickling to the Planning Commission as a Council member. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, John Nelson and Larry Schickling, motion was approved with Dave Whitney absent. A Motion was made by Larry Schickling and seconded by John Nelson to approve the request of funds in the amount of $6,000.00 to the Madelia Sportsman Club to cover the costs of the 2016 Pheasant Phest. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, John Nelson and Larry Schickling, motion was approved with Dave Whitney absent. Bills not to exceed $6,000.00 are to be presented to the City and the funds will be dispersed to the individual vendors. A Motion was made by John Nelson and seconded by Larry Schickling to adopt a Sanitary Sewer Maintenance Policy making the City eligible to apply for “Sewer Backup” insurance. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, John Nelson and Larry Schickling, motion was approved with Dave Whitney absent. A Motion was made by Larry Schickling and seconded by Andy Gappa to approve advertising the position of Clubhouse Manager for the Madelia Golf Course. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, John Nelson and Larry Schickling, motion was approved with Dave Whitney absent. With no further business before the Council, A Motion was made by John Nelson and seconded by Andy Gappa to adjourn the meeting. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, John Nelson and Larry Schickling. Voting against none, motion carried with Dave Whitney absent.
