City of Madelia City Council Meeting Monday, July 11 2016 A regular meeting of the Madelia City Council was held on July 11, 2016 at 7:00 pm. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Mike Grote, all members were present. A Motion was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by Dave Whitney to approve the agenda. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, John Nelson and Larry Schickling and Dave Whitney. Voting against none, motion carried. A Motion was made by Larry Schickling and seconded by John Nelson to approve the minutes of the June 27, 2016 meetings. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, John Nelson and Larry Schickling and Dave Whitney. Voting against none, motion carried. A Motion was made by Dave Whitney and seconded by Larry Schickling to approve the bills as listed. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, Dave Whitney, John Nelson and Larry Schickling. Voting against none, motion carried. A Motion was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by Larry Schickling to approve Resolution 2016-11 – Authorizing the city of Madelia to commit to the application submission to the Federal Economic Development Administration. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, John Nelson and Larry Schickling and Dave Whitney. Voting against none, motion carried. A Motion was made by Dave Whitney and seconded by Larry Schickling to approve Resolution 2016-12-A resolution approving a Bingo and Raffle license for the St Mary’s Church on Sunday, August 14, 2016. Voting in favor of said motion, Andy Gappa, John nelson, Larry Schickling, Dave Whitney and Mike Grote. Voting against none, motion carried. A Motion was made by John Nelson and seconded by Andy Gappa to approve the street closure request of the Methodist Church which will be hosting a Vacation Bible School during the week of July 31-Aug. 4th. They are requesting permission to close the street from the corner of Center Avenue North to the West entrance of Madelia Lumber Company on First Street NE from the hours of 5:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Voting for said motion; Mike Grote, John Nelson, Andy Gappa, Larry Schickling and Dave Whitney. Voting against none, motion carried. A Motion was made by Dave Whitney and seconded by Andy Gappa to approve ($1.00/hour) holiday and Park Days incentive pay to the Liquor Store Clerks. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa and Larry Schickling and Dave Whitney. John Nelson abstained from the vote, motion carried. A Motion was made by Dave Whitney and seconded by Larry Schickling to appoint the Election Judges for the August 9th Primary Election and the November 8th General Election. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, John Nelson and Dave Whitney with Larry Schickling voting against said motion, motion carried. A Motion was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by John Nelson to approve the purchase of a used 2011 Country Clipper in the amount of $4,500.00 for the Water and Wastewater Departments. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, John Nelson, Larry Schickling, Andy Gappa and Dave Whitney. Voting against none, motion carried. With no further business before the City Council, a Motion was made by John Nelson and seconded by Andy Gappa to adjourn the meeting. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, John Nelson and Larry Schickling and Dave Whitney. Voting against none, motion carried. Meeting was adjourned.
