City Council Meeting Monday, March 27, 2017 The meeting was called to order by Mayor Mike Grote. Those in attendance were; Andy Gappa, Larry Schickling and John Nelson and Dave Whitney. A Motion was made by Larry Schickling and seconded by Andy Gappa to approve the agenda with (3) additional agenda items. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, Larry Schickling and John Nelson and Dave Whitney. Voting against none, motion was approved. A Motion was made by John Nelson and seconded by Dave Whitney to approve the minutes of the March 13, 2017 City Council Meeting. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, John Nelson and Larry Schickling and Dave Whitney. Voting against none, motion was approved. A Motion was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by Dave Whitney to approve the bills as listed. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa and Larry Schickling and John Nelson and Dave Whitney. Voting against none, motion was approved. A Motion was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by Dave Whitney to approve Resolution 2017-04 a Bingo and Raffle License for the St Mary’s School on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the St May’s School. Voting in favor of said motion; John Nelson, Mike Grote, Dave Whitney, Larry Schickling and Andy Gappa, motion was approved. A Motion was made by Dave Whitney and seconded by Larry Schickling to approve a Special Assessment request in the amount of $2,000.00 for a period of ten years with an interest rate of 4.5% – a Sewer Connection Replacement Project- for Veronica Zimmerman, 120 East Main Street, Madelia. Total cost for the project was 4,331.52. Veronica has paid the sum of $2,331.52 leaving a remaining balance of $2,000.00. Voting in favor of said motion; John Nelson, Mike Grote, Dave Whitney, Larry Schickling and Andy Gappa, motion was approved. A Motion was made by John Nelson and seconded by Andy Gappa to approve the following expenses for the Madelia Golf Course Clubhouse, Madelia Lumber Company; replacement of carpet and flooring in the amount of $9,232.29, Wm Cooling Painting; painting interior of building, which would include walls, ceilings and bathrooms in the amount of $2,822.00. Voting in favor of said motion; John Nelson, Mike Grote, Dave Whitney, Larry Schickling and Andy Gappa, motion was approved. A Motion was made by Dave Whitney and seconded by Larry Schickling to approve the “Purchase Agreement” between Madelia LS LLC and the City of Madelia for the purchase of the building located at 1 West Main Street in the amount of $542,517.00. Voting in favor of said motion; John Nelson, Mike Grote, Dave Whitney, Larry Shackling and Andy Gappa, motion was approved. A Motion was made by Dave Whitney and seconded by John Nelson to approve the bid submitted by Feder Mechanical in the amount of $23,200.00 for the installation of Pool Heaters for the Madelia Swimming Pool. Voting in favor of said motion; John Nelson, Mike Grote, Dave Whitney, Larry Shackling and Andy Gappa, motion was approved. A Motion was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by John Nelson to approve the sale of Lots 10 and Lot 11 in Block 4 of the Riverview Heights Subdivision for an amount of $11,880.00 per lot; for the construction of a single home residence, with the understanding that the start of construction was to be within one year, contingent on the buyer obtaining the required financing and appraisal for the new construction. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, and Larry Schickling and Dave Whitney, abstaining from the vote; John Nelson, motion was approved. With no further business before the Council, A Motion was made by John Nelson and seconded by Andy Gappa to adjourn the meeting. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, John Nelson and Larry Schickling and Dave Whitney. Voting against none, motion was approved.
