City Council

City Council Meeting Monday, July 24, 2017 The meeting was called to order by Mayor Mike Grote. Those in attendance were; Andy Gappa, and John Nelson and Dave Whitney and Larry Schickling. A Representative from CenterPoint Energy was in attendance to present a $2500.00 check (CenterPoint Energy Community Partnership Grant) to the Madelia Ambulance Service to assist in the purchase of a power load cot system. Accepting the grant were members of the Madelia Ambulance Service. A Motion was made by John Nelson and seconded by Andy Gappa to approve the agenda. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, and John Nelson and Dave Whitney and Larry Schickling. Voting against none, motion was approved. A Motion was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by Larry Schickling to approve the minutes of the July 10, 2017 City Council Meeting. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, John Nelson and Dave Whitney and Larry Schickling. Voting against none, motion was approved. A Motion was made by Dave Whitney and seconded by Andy Gappa to approve the bills as listed. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa and John Nelson and Dave Whitney and Larry Schickling. Voting against none, motion was approved. City Administrator, Jane Piepgras brought before the Council the congestion, residents and business owners are experiencing on Center Avenue North. After a discussion of possible solutions, the Council directed the City Administrator to schedule a Public Hearing for August 24, 2017 to discuss and or act on after Public input. A Motion was made by Larry Schickling and seconded by Andy Gappa to approve a 20’ curb removal with a 2’ apron, request by John Nelson with an address of 415 Drew Avenue SE. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, Dave Whitney and Larry Schickling. Voting against none, with John Nelson abstaining from the vote, motion was approved. Police Chief, Rob Prescher addressed the Council in regard to updating the Department’s current “Body Cam” system/program, Squad Car maintenance and a reminder the “Nite to Unite” which was scheduled for August 1, 2017. With no further business before the Council, A Motion was made by Larry Schickling and seconded by Andy Gappa to adjourn the meeting. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, John Nelson and Dave Whitney and Larry Schickling.
