City Council Meeting Monday, April 23, 2018 The meeting was called to order by Mayor Mike Grote. Those in attendance were; John Nelson, Dave Whitney and Andy Gappa. A Motion was made by John Nelson and seconded by Dave Whitney to approve the agenda. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Dave Whitney, John Nelson, and Andy Gappa, motion was approved with Larry Schickling absent. A Motion was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by Dave Whitney to approve the minutes of the April , 2018 City Council Meeting. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, John Nelson, Dave Whitney, and Andy Gappa. motion was approved with Larry Schickling absent. A Motion was made by Dave Whitney and seconded by Andy Gappa to approve the bills as listed. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, Dave Whitney, John Nelson, and Andy Gappa. Motion was approved with Larry Schickling absent. A Motion was made by Dave Whitney and seconded by John Nelson to approve the removal of 60’ of curb and installation of an apron for the construction of a new building for VanHale Properties LLC; Dustin VanHale, located at 660 Haynes Avenue NE, Madelia. This project will be reviewed and overseen by the City Street Department. Voting in favor of said motion; Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, John Nelson and Dave Whitney, motion was approved with Larry Schickling absent. A Motion was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by Larry Schickling to approve purchasing an upgrade to the current TORO irrigation system for the Madelia Golf Course from MTI Distributing in the amount of $35,869.69. Only one bid was received as this is a “Specialty” upgrade our current system is so old that there is one option for upgrade-the other alternative was total replacement which would be very costly-there will be no labor involved as Staff will do the installation of modules-they offer a 3 year financing with 0% interest ($11,956.66 annual payments). Voting in favor of said motion; Mike Grote, Andy Gappa, John Nelson andand Dave Whitney. Voting against none, motion was approved with Larry Schickling absent. Mikayla Klinkner was present and addressed the City Council in regard to her upcoming “Gold Award” project for Girl Scouts. She will be constructing a “Welcome Sign” for the south entrance to Madelia. With no further business before the Council, A Motion was made by Dave Whitney and seconded by John Nelson to adjourn the meeting. Voting in favor of said motion, Mike Grote, John Nelson, Dave Whitney, and Andy Gappa. Voting against none, motion carried with Larry Schickling absent.
