City Council Meeting Monday, May 23, 2022 The meeting was called to order by Mayor Mike Grote. Those in attendance were Mike Grote, Cody Eager, Andrew Gappa, Dave Whitney and Glen Christensen. Others presented were Patrick Casey, City Attorney, Chris Fischer, Chief Prescher, Heather Utz, Jim Pettersen, Kathy Guyer, Deb Nelson and Michelle VanHee. In the 1970’s while on the park board, she helped to establish the Madelia Golf Course which opened in 1982. Ruth was a life- long golfer, playing many rounds on this course and building her home off the 5 th green. Following her passing in 2021, Ruth’s family has donated a bench to the golf course in her memory.” Voting in favor of said motion; Mike Grote-Yes, Andy Gappa-Yes, Glen Christensen- Yes, Dave Whitney-Yes and Cody Eager-Yes. Motion was approved. A Motion was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by Glen Christensen to approve 2022-11 a Resolution on LGA Formula Update and $90M Appropriation Increase. The City Council of Madelia, Minnesota urges through this Resolution to its lawmakers that the state pass the LGA Formula proposal and to increase the LGA appropriation by $90 million. Voting in favor of said motion; Mike Grote-Yes, Andy Gappa-Yes, Glen Christensen- Yes, Dave Whitney-Yes and Cody Eager-Yes. Motion was approved. A Motion was made by Dave Whitney and seconded by Glen Christensen to approve the spilt of parcel 17.330.1550. Voting in favor of said motion; Mike Grote-Yes, Andy Gappa-Yes, Glen Christensen- Yes, Dave Whitney-Yes and Cody Eager-Yes. Motion was approved. A Motion was made by Cody Eager and seconded by Andy Gappa to approve Application and Certificate # 7 for Payment to PHLAG Holding LLC in the amount of $189,621.00. Voting in favor of said motion; Mike Grote-Yes, Andy Gappa-Yes, Glen Christensen- Yes, Dave Whitney-Yes and Cody Eager-Yes. Motion was approved. A Motion was made by Glen Christensen and seconded by Cody Eager to call a Public Hearing for 116 Main Street Redevelopment Public Discussion for June 13th at 6:00p.m. at the Legion. Voting in favor of said motion; Mike Grote-Yes, Andy Gappa-Yes, Glen Christensen- Yes, Dave Whitney-Yes and Cody Eager-Yes. Motion was approved. A Motion was made by Glen Christensen and seconded by Cody Eager to convene the Regular Council meeting and go into Closed session for Legal Counsel. Voting in favor of said motion; Mike Grote-Yes, Cody Eager-Yes, Andy Gappa-Yes, Dave Whitney-Yes and Glen Christensen-Yes. Motion was approved. A Motion was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by Cody Eager to reconvene the Regular Council meeting. With no further business before the Council, A Motion was made by Glen Christensen and seconded by Cody Eager to adjourn the meeting.
