Monday, March 11, 2024
The meeting was called to order by Cody Eager. Those in attendance were Cody
Eager, Mark Slater, Glen Christensen and Phyllis Schickling. Andy Gappa was absent.
Others present were Chris Fischer, Heather Utz, Rob Prescher, Jan Christenson, and
Jim Pettersen. Please note sign in sheet attached for other that attended.
A Motion was made by Mark Slater and seconded by Glen Christensen to approve the
Consent Items. Voting in favor of said motion; Cody Eager-Yes, Phyllis Schickling-Yes,
Glen Christensen-Yes and Mark Slater - Yes. Motion was approved.

A Motion was made by Glen Christensen and seconded by Mark Slater to approve the
Resolution 2024-07 for St. Mary’s Bingo and Raffle on April 26, 2024. Voting in favor of
said motion; Cody Eager-Yes, Phyllis Schickling-Yes, Glen Christensen-Yes and Mark
Slater - Yes. Motion was approved.
A Motion was made by Mark Slater and seconded by Phyllis Schickling to approve the
allocation of $12,800.00 to the Madelia Chamber for 2024 Park Days. Voting in favor
of said motion; Cody Eager-Yes, Phyllis Schickling-Yes, Glen Christensen-Yes and
Mark Slater - Yes. Motion was approved.
A Motion was made by Glen Christensen and seconded by Phyllis Schickling to approve
the sign variance for Madelia Optometric. Voting in favor of said motion; Cody Eager-
Yes, Phyllis Schickling-Yes, Glen Christensen-Yes and Mark Slater - Yes. Motion was
approved.
A Motion was made by Mark Slater and seconded by Glen Christensen to approve
scheduling a Public Hearing for fence variance request (Dustin VanHale/Tony Downs
21 Third St. NW) for March 25, 2024 at 5:30p.m. Voting in favor of said motion; Cody
Eager-Yes, Phyllis Schickling-Yes, Glen Christensen-Yes and Mark Slater - Yes.
Motion was approved.
A Motion was made by Glen Christensen and seconded by Phyllis Schickling to approve
scheduling a Public Hearing for variance request for a 12x16 garden shed (Jim
Pettersen 203 Center Ave N) for March 25, 2024 at 5:45p.m. Voting in favor of said
motion; Cody Eager-Yes, Phyllis Schickling-Yes, Mark Slater-Yes and Glen
Christensen-Yes. Motion was approved.
A Motion was made by Phyllis Schickling and seconded by Mark Slater to approve
advertising the RFP for the electrical work for new well house #6. Voting in favor of
said motion; Cody Eager-Yes, Phyllis Schickling-Yes, Mark Slater-Yes and Glen
Christensen-Yes. Motion was approved.
A Motion was made by Mark Slater and seconded by Glen Christensen to approve
advertising the RFP for the building construction for the new well house #6. Voting in
favor of said motion; Cody Eager-Yes, Phyllis Schickling-Yes, Mark Slater-Yes and Glen
Christensen-Yes. Motion was approved.
A Motion was made by Glen Christensen and seconded by Mark Slater to approve
advertising the RFP for demolition of old well house #4. Voting in favor of said motion;
Cody Eager-Yes, Phyllis Schickling-Yes, Mark Slater-Yes and Glen Christensen-Yes.
Motion was approved.
A Motion was made by Mark Slater and seconded by Phyllis Schickling to approve the
hiring of Dainelle Goetz for the full time Park and Recreation Manager. Voting in favor
of said motion; Cody Eager-Yes, Phyllis Schickling-Yes, Mark Slater-Yes and Glen
Christensen-Yes. Motion was approved.
A Motion was made by Glen Christensen and seconded by Mark Slater to approve
scheduling a Public Hearing for Repealing and Replacing Animal Ordinance No. 92 for
March 25th, 2024 at 6:00p.m. Voting in favor of said motion; Cody Eager-Yes, Phyllis
Schickling-Yes, Mark Slater-Yes and Glen Christensen-Yes. Motion was approved.
With no further business before the Council, A Motion was made by Mark Slater and
seconded by Glen Christensen to adjourn the meeting. Voting in favor of said motion;
Cody Eager-Yes, Phyllis Schickling-Yes, Glen Christensen-Yes and Mark Slater - Yes.
Motion was approved.
