Human Relations and Equity Committee Meeting Madison Heights, Michigan September 18, 2025 A Human Relations and Equity Committee Meeting was held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 6:30 PM at Library - Breckenridge Room, 240 W. 13 Mile Rd. CALL TO ORDER Chair Yu called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm. ROLL CALL PRESENT Kate Kapas Tanner Langdon Ashley Strunk Alec Yu Teresa Scott Council Representative Alternate Emily Rohrbach EXCUSED ABSENT Aaron Brown Council Representative Quinn Wright ABSENT Andrew Allard Rebecca Chambliss Colton Chambliss, Student Delegate APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Minutes of August 21, 2025 Motion made by Rohrbach to approve the minutes of August 21, 2025, Seconded by Strunk. Motion passed unanimously. MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC No one present wishing to speak. COMMITTEE UPDATES 2. Achievement Exhibit The presentation for a more in-depth look at the Automotive Hall of Fame's traveling exhibit "Achievement" will take place at the Library on October 29, 2025 at 6 pm. 3. Adaptive Game Night The Adaptive Game Night will take place on November 12, 2025 from 6 pm - 8 pm in the Library's Breckenridge Room and will be for youth up to age 15 years. The committee's current plan to is to hold adaptive game nights quarterly, alternating for 1 adult and youth. Thank you to volunteer Laura for getting involved to help plan this event. Motion made by Rohrbach to approve $200 for additional games for youth and light refreshments, Seconded by Kapas. Motion passed unanimously. 4. Logo and Apparel The Logo and Apparel Committee had great success with the HREC Volunteer shirts made for Revin' in the Heights . The committee also presented a logo for consideration. Motion made by Rohrbach to adopt the logo, Seconded by Landon. Motion passed unanimously. 5. Revin' in the Heights Revin' in the Heights was very successful again this year. Next year's date will tentatively be September 19, 2026. Feedback for future Revin' events: Better process and signage for vendors with a map. More clarification for who is in charge and improved use of walkie talkies. Larger parking signage with use of cones. Water stations. More coffee - maybe a coffee sponsor. Activities for all ages were very popular. RC cars were a huge hit. Look into getting big wheel from Celebration in the Park. Lego area was very popular. NEW BUSINESS 6. Review Library Internet Safety Policy Library Internet Safety Policy and Wireless Internet Access Policy reviewed and comments will be shared with the Library Director. 7. Social Media Content Social media content to be prepared Yom Kippur - Hames; Indigenous People's Day and Diwali - Rohrbach. 8. Tree Lighting November 24 Tree Lighting will take place on November 24, 2025. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 7:41 pm. 2
