Human Relations and Equity Committee Meeting Madison Heights, Michigan August 21, 2025 A Human Relations and Equity Committee Meeting was held on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 6:30 PM at Library - Breckenridge Room, 240 W. 13 Mile Rd. CALL TO ORDER Meeting called to order by Chair Yu at 6:31 pm. ROLL CALL PRESENT Aaron Brown Tanner Langdon Jessica Showers Ashley Strunk Alec Yu Council Representative Quinn Wright Council Representative Alternate Emily Rohrbach Also present Staff Liaison Heather Hames ABSENT Rebecca Chambliss Kate Kapas Student Delegate (Madison) Colton Chambliss APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Minutes of July 23, 2025 Motion made by Showers to approve the Minutes of July 23, 2025, Seconded by Brown. Motion passed unanimously. MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC No on present wishing to speak. COMMITTEE UPDATES 2. Adaptive Game Night Summary The Adaptive Game Night for ages 16 and up in July went great and was well attended. Attendees are very interested in having the program again. There is also community interest in having an adaptive game night for youth. Motion made by Brown to create an Adaptive Programs Committee to include Ashley Strunk and Alec Yu, Seconded by Showers. Motion passed unanimously. Motion made by Brown to hold an Adaptive Game Night for youth on October 28 at 6:00 pm, Seconded by Showers. Motion passed unanimously. 1  3. Revin' in the Heights Sponsorships are coming in. Volunteers needed for shifts, sign-up sheet coming soon. 4. Juneteenth Scholarship Summary The plan is to present the winner with a certificate and $500 check at the August 25 City Council meeting. NEW BUSINESS 5. Social Media Content Social Media posts for August will use content already created, Hames will post. Some September content is already ready and new content needed is: Suicide Prevention Awareness Month - Yu 9/11 - Brown Michigan Indian Day - Rohrbach 6. Motion made by Langdon to establish the HREC Logo and Apparel Committee consisting of Tanner Langdon, Emily Rohrbach, and Aaron Brown, Seconded by Showers. Motion passed unanimously.
