Minutes June 19, 2014 1. Call to order: 7:08pm 2. Roll Call Present: Carla Brady, Maureen Byrne, Mayor Conley, Brad Cramer, Craig Erezuma (7:25), Peter Flemming, Mike Kopas, Russell Stern, Carmen Vacchiano, Marsha Ann Zimmerman Absent: Jim Burnet, Mark Fabyanski, Garry Herzog, Larry Jasen, Wayne Lajewski, Pat Rowe, Barb Short, Steve Whitehorn Also present: Laura Cole, John Hoover 3. Open Public Meetings Act read by Chairman Stern 4. Pledge of Allegiance 5. Approval of June 2014 minutes: MOTION to approve as presented, Maureen Byrne, SECOND: Brad Cramer, MOTION PASSED, NO ABSTENTIONS 6. Treasurer’s Report presented by Brad Cramer. $14,000 from Taste of Madison deposited after tonight’s budget was calculated. Now we are in the positive. (Report Attached) 7. Mayor’s Report: Council serving popcorn at Clam Bake movie. Ground breaking next Tuesday 9:30am Old Greenville. 8. Council Liaison Report: No report. 9. Discussion: Madison 125 Madison Summer Clam Bake--Aug. 16--Big Barbeque. No soda. More novelty items instead. Outdoor movie. Bounce house. Obstacle course. Inflatable chair for pictures. Dunk Tank. Popcorn machine. Sky dancer. Air brush tattoos. Spin art. Carnival games. Shaved ice. Live music. Field day games. Maureen suggested lawn signs. Carla is having the interns ask pizza places to include flier when delivering take out. Madison pool will permit promotion after July 26th. Posters will be printed and given to stores to put in windows. Mike suggested that we promote at the MRC snack shack. Firehouse does not work as a rain site. Looking into ambulance corp. Flat Madison-- Life sized Flat Madison to be ready soon. Art Auction Gala -- Madison/Lamb's Artillery & Morgan's Rifle Company can come in “formal wear” and walk around the party. 10. Planning Board Report- NR 11. Foundation Report-NR 12. Committee Reports: • Sign & Façade-NR • University Relations: Town Tour guide letters have gone out. • Public Improvement Committee: NR 13. Ad Hoc Committee Reports a. Taste of Madison - NR b. Farmers Market – June 5-Oct. 16 – Friends of Public Library Touch a Truck to attend soon. c. May Day NR d. Bottle Hill Day -- Sept. 27– Working on Beer Garden licenses and rentals. Renting four stages from Mobile Stages inc. 14. Assistant Borough Administrator’s Report--Maersk out. Merck moving in end of December. Corner lot on Giralda under contract. Union Beach Bowling Event next Monday. 15. Old Business A. Ordinance Update to remove term limits B. Update on Social Media still in the works Discussion: Craig thinks that the organization needs to start discussing how to grow the organization. Brad adds that as we discuss social media we need to increase our content by growing the span of the organization. In other words, there isn’t enough to promote to make this investment worth it. Carla reminds us that when she was chair she brought in Cheryl Ellis, a facilitator for this discussion. Maureen thinks this would be a worthwhile exercise. Discussion: Madison Summer Clam Bake--Aug. 16 MOTION to allocate $225 a month to Adam Louis for Carla: Rain date aug. 17. At train station. If both days rain, Social Media integration. possibly in firehouse bays. 4-9pm. No alcohol. Activities include live music, 2-3 inflatables. Movie after 9pm. 30 ft. b.
