Public Comments and Correspondence
DPW will call Tree King to clean up a wood chip pile from a ground up stump on North Street.
Borough Tree Maintenance Status
Vendor management is an ongoing issue.
Mike assessed the following trees:
19 Stonehedge: The large white pine can be pruned.
29 Barnsdale: Definitely looks like their roots were affected by construction. Remove 5 trees.
46 Broadview: Prune
24 Broadview: Prune. It's not in good shape but see if it responds better next year.
34 Green: There is a 1 inch caliper red maple there which is about 7 ft. tall. Too small for us to have planted but the tree is in
good shape.
29 Woodland: Mike Piano had been in contact with them. It looks like they removed half of the tree to alleviate some
potential risk.
3 Glendale: Could not find any issues
38 Green: There is a purple plum tree planted in the right of way. It looks to be fairly new.
37 Albright: There are two London Planetrees and 1 Zelkova. Some of the roots are affecting the lawn but it does not look to
be severe.
Alan and Christine will send letters to:
34 Green (where is the gingko DPW planted?);
3 Glendale (prune tree hanging over the road on Fairwood);
38 Green (to Coviello’s, reminding them not to plant in the Borough right-of-way);
37 Albright (the Zelkova will be pruned and to contact DPW if the roots get worse).
TCC
No applications were reviewed.
FMST
Friends is committed to planting 5 new trees at the Habitat for Humanity site.
The tree nursery is thriving and they hope to transplant the new trees after the deer fence is installed.
Parks Advisory Committee
Two cherry trees have been removed at James Park. Alan proposed that Woodland Tree replace them with two cherries,
Nancy seconded and the Board approved.
New Business
The Board began to discuss recommendations for the maintenance of Borough-owned parks, such as the Pomeroy Woods.
Alan will arrange a meeting with Mr. Codey (copying Mr. Catalanello, Ms. Vitale and Mr. Burnet) to discuss tree protection
measures.
Alan will email Ms. Vitale and Mr. Catalanello with regard to enforcing tree issues on zoning and planning applications.
The Board adjourned at 9:55 am.
Minutes submitted by Christine Hammitt.
