ANNOUNCEMENT OF NOTICE Statement of Compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act: Betsy Uhlman, Chairperson, opened the meeting as follows: “Let the minutes reflect that adequate notice of this meeting has been provided in the following manner: At the meeting of the Council, held on January 1, 2015, the posted annual calendar of meetings of the Madison Environmental Commission was approved with minor modifications which were submitted to the Borough and posted at the bulletin board at the main entrance of the Hartley Dodge Memorial Building; were sent to the Madison Eagle and the Daily Record; and filed with the Borough Clerk; all in accordance with the ‘Open Public Meetings Act.’” 3. ISSUES FOR DISCUSSION: 1. Progress on grant applications review: Stephan Stocker sent an update: the NJ Tree Foundation is planting 500 tree seedlings for STMB in the upland area and 100 trees and shrubs at the main entrance to the deer exclosure and along the lower trail. 15- 20 College of NJ students will arrive on April 25 to plant a garden along the access road within the fence. 2. 173 Ridgedale Ave. project: The guests provided their perspective on the project, having lived in the neighborhood for a long time (37 years in Mr. Hunter’s case). They noticed changes in ponds with egrets, frogs and muskrats. The ponds are fed by a spring or stream. There is a natural flow from the wet area to the driveway. The houses are in the direct flow that fills the pond. They asked,,”Who will fence the area by the homes? Who will maintain the pond?” The MEC discussed the important role !" We agreed to explore whether the Madison Master Plan could reflect the opposition to private (non- utility) pipelines in Madison and whether an ordinance should be considered. 4. 3*--."41'*"1(2-*.12'5-6: The MEC will participate in Healthy Kids Day at the Y, April 25, and Arbor Day on May 2 with FMST. The shoe drive continues at the Y and schools until April 30 and the pickup will be May 15 from Missy’s. 5. 728-*"9-:";<6'.-66: The MEC decided to ask Jim Burnet to consider textile recycling, if replicating the Summit program represents an improvement over the Red Cross and St. Vincent’s collection boxes.
