OLD BUSINESS
Joint meeting
- Discussed pros and cons of the meeting.
- Members would like to see more fact/statistic based information
embedded into the slides
- Members thought that this type of information should be brought
in front of council.
National Take Back day
- Social media was utilized to bring awareness round the day. On
the posts and flyers created, locations for where take backs were
available were listed. Madison Pharmacy reported a great turn
out.
NEW BUSINESS
Supplemental funding for Jan 2018- Dec 2018 has been completed and
is now in the hands of the county. Waiting for approval.
- Yoga program for Middle School Starting May 16th.
o Partially funded by the Madison Area YMCA’s Community
Mental Health Initiative.
o One teacher is going to teach both classes. He has a masters
of education and is a 500 cyt yoga teacher.
- Parenting program for pre-teen and pre adolescents
o Starts May 10th- Lindsay stated that there were four parents
who signed up for the 3 consecutive workshops, while 4
parents signed up for individual ones.
- Partnering with the Madison Pool to help families and to prevent
substance use and abuse by awareness events, and interactive
initiatives.
- Town Hall partnering with MACC and MCC to be held June 6th.
o From this will stem a social media campaign kicking off in
September called the “ Informed decision project.” It is
geared toward the truths about marijuana.
- Arrive alive for Bottle hill day is planned.
- Social media- Requested members to send anything from
evidence based resoources for positing
Request for trainings:
Not even once: Training cost 50.00 each.
- Program the High School is doing and Vinny ( SRO) requested,
Vanessa, the SAC. I suggested if possible to be trained as well.
Voting:
Voted to spend $600.00 on DARE, a community program aimed to keep
kids healthy and provide them with alternative activities.
