OPEN SPACE, RECREATION AND HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MINUTES November 14, 2012 NEXT MEETING: December 12, 2012, 7:30 PM, Hartley Dodge Memorial Building in the Committee Room. Please notify the Chair if unable to attend. PRESENT: A. Baillie, C. Coultas, M. Durham, M. Honohan, R. Poeter. OPEN MEETING STATEMENT READ: COMMITTEE MEMBERS STATUS: A. Paul Digiacomo has resigned from the Committee. B. Ron Poeter has completed his Historic Preservation Commission representation on the Committee but has shown interest to continue on as a Resident Member. C. Vincent Esposito will not return as a Council Member, therefore will no longer serve as the liaison. D. Mayor Conley will continue to be a member (an inquiry was made regarding hi voting status). E. Council liaison is a voting member. MINUTES: A. Motion made and passed to accept the September minutes as written. Baillie/Poeter B. Motion made and passed to accept the October minutes with one correction. Durham/Poeter MADISON RECREATION CENTER: A. Fence 3 acres of MRC property to take care of arsenic cleanup. B. PK Environmental will do the clean up. C. The Environmental Commission can apply for grants to help fund the remediation. OPEN SPACE FUNDING: A. Need to get OS Funds application process in place. B. The funding can be used in combination with other funding sources. C. Can use the OS funds as leverage for other funding sources. D. We need to set up the process carefully so it doesn’t have to be changed. E. Forms should be developed for application for OS funds. F. Look for trail opportunities at MRC as a possible fund request site. G. Environmental Commission also looking for funds to pay for the remediation at MRC. NEW BUSINESS: A. Bottle Hill Historic District Plan – invite the group to attend December 2012. B. Year End Report – The Chair will write the report and send out a draft to the Committee. C. Green Forum Meeting – January 24th, 7 to 9 PM in Ehinger Hall (Student Union). Will highlight Sustainable Madison and natural spaces. ADJOURNMENT: Respectfully submitted, Cathie Coultas, Secretary
