OPEN SPACE, RECREATION AND HISTORIC PRESERVATION MEETING MINUTES February 13, 2013 NEXT MEETING: March 13, 2013, 7:30 PM in the Committee Room, Borough Hall. Please notify the Chair if unable to attend. PRESENT: A. Baillie, C. Coultas, M. Durham, L. Ellis, P. Hiscano, M. Honohan, C. Kellogg, J. Mullins, R. Poeter Guest: Barbara Heskins-Davis, representing The Land Conservancy of New Jersey MEETING CALLED TO ORDER: MEETING ADJOURNED TO EXECUTIVE SESSION: Discussion of grants and land acquisitions MOTION TO ADJOURN: Motion made and passed to adjourn to Executive Session. Mullins/Durham PUBLIC SESSION RECONVENED: Open Meeting statement read. MINUTES: Motion made and passed to accept the minutes as written. Ellis/Kellogg 2013 REORGANIZATION DISCUSSION AND VOTE: Motion made and passed that Melissa Honohan will return as Chair and Cathie Coultas will remain in the Secretary position. Baillie/Ellis GREEN FORUM ACTION GROUP OVERVIEW: A. Education and map – partner with Parks Committee on this. Map to include: 1. Map of Madison with parks and trails 2. To include historical highlights of some of the parks. (Example – Greenhouse ruins in Summerhill) 3. Contact Green Forum attendees who indicated they would like to volunteer for projects. B. Request to apply for Trail Grant approved by Council on Feb. 11th. POLICY FOR OPEN SPACE FUND REQUESTS: Tabled until March meeting so more time can be spent in discussion. OLD BUSINESS: A. Traction line – Green Forum results were many asking for more bike and walking trails. B. Astri will contact David Helmer from the Morris County Park Commission as much of the possible trail property is on County property. C.
