OPEN SPACE, RECREATION AND HISTORIC PRESERVAION COMMITTEE MINUTES June 11, 2014 NEXT MEETING: July 9, 2014, 7:30 PM Hartley Dodge Memorial Building. Guest: Steve Stockert, MRC Passive Recreation Committee OPEN PUBLIC MEETING STATEMENT READ MINUTES: Motion made and passed to accept the minutes as written. Piscula/Van Ryzin FINANCIAL REPORT: A. Quarterly report presented to Council on May 12, 2014 B. $617,220 generated this year 1. $483,762 MRC/Turf debt 2. $125,000 METC 3. $8,000 Cole Park Foundation 4. Other projects – Maintenance, fencing (MRC), Trail Project (MRC), field improvements and new shelter at Memorial Park. MRC PROJECTS: A. Trail dedication – June 7, 2014, 11:00 AM B. Steve Stockert presented an addition to the application for fencing and supplies for completion of deer fencing at MRC (original request not adequate as company bidding went out of business). Also plans for volunteers to erect the fence not advisable. C. Invasives have been removed from fence line. D. $16,000 addition fund requested to have company install the fence and include 3 self closing gates. Motion made and passed unanimously to put forward to Council a recommendation for $16,000 for additional costs for deer fencing at MRC. Mullins/Kellogg LUKE MILLER FORGE ROOF APPLICATION: A. An application for $8,000 from the Madison Parks Advisory Committee to replace the Luke Miller Forge roof was reviewed 1. Cathie Coultas and Bill Van Ryzin discussed the project 2. Motion made and passed to recommend to Council that $8,000 of Open Space Trust Funds be allocated to replace the Luke Miller Forge Roof with wood shingles.
